“Yes.” He took a deep breath. “And their love is in me. That’s the love I have in me to give to all of you.”

I threw my arms around his neck. “Ares.”

He wrapped me up. “I love you, Hope. I’ll work every day of our lives to give you what you deserve.”

I spoke through the tightness in my throat. “Just you. You’ve always been enough.”

He rocked me in the hallway until I settled.

“You okay?”

He looked concerned.

I dabbed my eyes. “I’ll never be able to look at these the same way.”

He weaved his fingers through mine.

On our way back to the living room, I passed the picture I’d taken of him.

There it was.

For everybody to see.

I stroked the edge of the frame.

I was loved.

Our girls weren’t the only children at the restaurant. Turned out there were quite a few of them between Minty’s friends.

And I learned that, like me, Minty had herself quite a girl posse.

After dinner, Lucky stood and toasted his bride.

By the time he was done, he and Minty both had tears in their eyes. They weren’t the only ones.

My own were more than a little shiny.

I averted my face so Ares wouldn’t see. Though it was true I harbored a tiny thread of envy, it was miniscule in the grand scheme of things. And the last thing I wanted was to make Ares feel like he didn’t give me enough.

Over the past weeks, he’d given me more than I dreamed possible.

And in a couple more weeks, we were leaving for Greece.

With both girls.

Lord, help us.

With dinner finished, one of Minty’s young friends, a DJ, took over. She started off slow and sweet, but knowing Lucky, especially with his band there, that wouldn’t last.

There were several large, handsome men in attendance. All of them danced with their daughters at some point.

One of those big, beautiful men was mine.

The sight brought revelation.

Brayleigh and Sia were blessed to have both Lucky and Ares at their backs.

We’d all been blessed to have each other.
