“God.” Wild waves of sunlit blond fell around Sara’s shoulders in the darkness as she circled her hips against Sam’s, her wetness slick between them. “It’s so sexy how you just pick me up and put me where you want me.” She smiled and bit her lip as she remembered. “The first time you did that, I was instantly wet. I think it was that night we spent in the treehouse, and it still works every time.”

Sam smiled, her hands sliding up Sara’s thighs. “Well, take a breath because we’re just getting started, baby.”

Sara reached for the forgotten toy, turning it over in her hand. “I’d love to be cool and worldly here, but I seriously have no idea how we’re supposed to use this.” She paused, then dragged her tongue from one end to the other, her eyes locked on Sam’s. “What does a girl have to do to get a show-and-tell?”

Sam’s voice was a low scrape as she took it from Sara, sliding her back from her hips to sit between her thighs. “Let’s just say we don’t need the harness tonight.” Sam slid the short end of the L-shaped toy inside her, and Sara wrapped her hand around the other end as she knelt above Sam’s hips and kissed her, easing back on it slowly.

“Take your time.” Sam paused, waiting for any hint that it might be too much. “It’s more than what you’re used to.” Sara closed her eyes, taking a deep breath as she leaned back to take the last few inches. She bit her lip, and Sam squeezed her thighs gently. “Baby, if it’s too much, just—”

“Sam,” Sara interrupted as she started to rock her hips gently. “I love it. It feels amazing to have nothing between us like this.” She leaned back, her eyes sparkling. “But will you do that other thing I love?”

Sam slipped her hand between their bodies and found Sara’s clit as she rocked her hips. She arched, moving deeper into Sara as she watched her lean back, her hands behind her on Sam’s thighs. Sam watched every move, memorized every curve from her hips to her breasts, her body flushed and damp, her pale pink nipples tense and straining.

Sam wrapped her hands around Sara’s hips, pulling her down with every stroke to grind against her.

“Baby…” Sara’s voice was breathless. Her eyes fluttered shut as her hair dropped behind her, her hips moving in perfect circles between Sam’s hands. “Do you want to watch me come for you?”

Sam’s eyes were locked on Sara. “Fuck yes, baby.”

Sam sank into the rhythm of her hips, drinking in the sensual curves of Sara’s naked body. She tried to speak, but the words faded into the orgasm that swept between them, shaking Sam to her core and making her wonder if she could draw another breath. Sara’s rhythm faltered as the intensity crested, and Sam took over, guiding her hips into the deep strokes she knew Sara loved, grinding against her clit as Sara arched back and shuddered to her second climax, her hips rocking in a slick rhythm against Sam’s.

As the intensity faded, Sara melted into her arms, and Sam turned her over and pulled her close, wrapping her body around Sara’s from behind and pulling the duvet over them.

“Sam?”

Sara’s voice was already fading into sleep, and Sam smiled as she waited for her to continue.

“I still love you more every day.”

Sam kissed her neck and whispered, “Me too, baby.” She listened to the rhythm of Sara’s breath and settled her hand over Sara’s heart. “Every damn day.”

Chapter Seven

“Well, would you look at that? You survived the late-night canoe ride.” Alex winked at Lily as she unlocked their cabin door, then held it open for her to go in. “We didn’t even have to call Sam.” She dropped the keys beside the record player and turned on the lamps. “Not that I wasn’t looking forward to calling your ex to rescue us in the middle of a date, but whatever.” Alex looked up at Lily and grinned. “I can wait till next time, I guess.”

Lily shrugged off her jacket and tossed it up onto her bunk, mentally sifting through her cache of clever retorts. “So that was a date?”

“Well, yeah.” Alex thumbed through a pine box of records under the player. “I mean, I didn’t have a lot of time to plan, so it’s not one of my best, but we did have rum. So technically, it was a date.”

“Actually, I loved that rum. It almost tasted like…” Lily trailed off as she tried to wrap words around the scent but came up with nothing.

“Smoke?” Alex set up a record and it dropped under the needle, the familiar scratch giving way to a sultry jazz quartet that made Lily feel like she was wandering the dark alleys of New Orleans.

“Yeah, smoke.” She paused. “But rum isn’t smoked, is it?”

“Other than being aged in charred oak barrels, the smoke element is usually added after the fact.” Alex slipped her shoes off and set them just inside the door of the cabin. “There’s a cocktail in Havana that uses scorched rosemary and sage garnish to give it that flavor, plus a smoky simple syrup. It’s my favorite thing in the world.”

Lily pulled her sky-blue silk pajamas from underneath her pillow and placed them on the bathroom sink, then started the shower and waited until the water turned to swirling pewter steam before she came

back into the main room.

“You miss Havana, don’t you?”

Alex was still at the record player and didn’t turn, just traced the edge of the record sleeve with her finger, her words soft as ash when she finally chose them. “Every day.”

Lily walked back into the bathroom and started to close the door, then stopped and propped it open as she turned toward the shower and unbuttoned her shirt. She felt the weight of Alex’s gaze warm her skin as she unzipped her jeans, stepping out of them and slipping off her underwear. She heard Alex cross the room, then felt hands circling her waist and warm breath close at her neck.

“Lily.” Her voice was soft as she said something in Spanish.
