“Hi, Mom,” Lincoln says, hugging her. “This is my girlfriend, Quinn Walker.”

Her eyes widen behind her oversized sunglasses. “Your girlfriend? Oh, my gosh!” She shakes my hand, “I’m Anne, it’s so nice to meet you!”

“It’s nice meetin’ you too, ma’am. I’ve heard nothin’ but good things.”

She glances at Lincoln, then at me. “You are so cute. Where are you from?”

“God’s country. Mobile, Alabama.”

Anne laughs as a tall man who looks exactly like Lincoln, just older, approaches. She links her arm through his. “Archer, meet Ms. Quinn Walker.” She excitedly pats her husband’s arm. “Lincoln’s girlfriend.”

He takes off his sunglasses and shakes my hand. Oh, my! Even his blue eyes are identical. “It’s very nice to meet you.”

Another older couple approaches us.

“This is my aunt and uncle Mike and Sheila Silverstone. Roman’s parents,” Lincoln introduces. “My girlfriend, Quinn Walker.”

Sheila damn near gushes over me more than Anne had. In this case, I can see Roman gets his looks from his mom, while his dad and Archer resemble each other. “Great to meet y’all.”

“So cute, you from the South, honey?” Sheila asks.

“Yes, ma’am. Alabama.”

“She’s adorable, Linc. Just perfect.” Sheila beams at me.

Mike grabs his wife’s hand. “C’mon. Let’s get some wine.”

“Bye!” she says, wiggling her fingers at me.

I laugh and wave back.

“She’s a bit, what’s that word you used? Extra?” Lincoln comments.

“Well, I think she’s sweet as pie with a cherry on top. I like her already.” I look at his parents. “I like all of you already. Y’all are so welcoming.”

“We’re so happy to meet you,” Anne comments.

“We’re gonna go mingle,” Lincoln says, grabbing my hand. “Talk to you later.”

We walk away, and my stomach roils with nerves as I see we’re approaching his brother and cousin.

They see our shadows and Nate turns around. He looks at me. “Oh, hey, Quinn, great you could make it! I was just commenting on what a good turnout—” He freezes as he hones in on mine and Lincoln’s joined hands, then smiles. “Nice.”

Roman’s sitting there, snickering with a toothpick between his lips. “I fucking knew it.”

“You fucking knew what?” asks little Rhett.

I snort a laugh then cover my mouth. Why is it so funny when little kids curse? “That’s a bad word, buckaroo,” I tell him.

Kiara smacks Roman’s chest with the back of her hand. “Stop swearing in front of him.”

“Sorry,” he mutters. “I knew they’d come as a couple, to answer Rhett’s question,” Roman says.

Nathan smiles. “Congratulations on making it official, you two.”

“Y’all already knew about us?” I ask, shocked.

“Yeah, Linc told us, but we may have had a little bit to do with it, as well,” Nate responds.
