I knocked quietly
"Come in" he intoned, the sound pulling me inside
As I stepped in he looked up to see who it was and as our eyes met I was thankful I still held the handle as that was the only thing that kept me upright my legs doing that thing were they suddenly went wobbly.
"Are you alright" he asked standing up obviously concerned, from his point of view I probably looked like I was about to keel over
"Don't worry, it's these heels, my ankle is worse than I thought it was," I said quickly blaming it on the accident I had yesterday when I tried to run after who we suspected was the neighborhood bandit, turned out it was some kids playing tag but by then I twisted my ankle when I tried to turn around the building sharply
"I told you to let me take you to the clinic so Doc could have a look at it Evelyn, but you insisted it was alright I can't have you down now that Ryan is not around"
"No it's okay just a little sore, these heels are kind of tight" I replied not wanting him to bother,
Actually there wasnothing wrong if only my legs hadn't decided to disappoint me right in front of him but whenever I looked into those eyes they seemed to smolder right through me.
I turned and to my shock he was already beside me catching me off guard
"Let's have a look at it" he said half lifting half helping me to the seat
At that point I could have melted away with embarrassment
"I said I'm okay, it's the heels" In protested weakly as I was swept off my feet
I was extremely uncomfortable but at the same time I enjoyed the closeness as his arms pressed over mine, when the stubble on his jaw brushed by my bare legs as he bent to slide off the heels. Heat coursed through my body in waves meanwhile he seemed in unaware of what he was doing but when I looked at how tensed his muscles were I realized he was also feeling the same way but was just better at hiding it
"Okay now that's done with" he exhaled catching his breath
He had removed them so deftly that I didn't notice when the both were pulled off or maybe I was just trying to concentrate enough to stop myself from melting in his arms
"See there's nothing" I almost whispered my voice tight with emotion
"Hmmm seems okay to me, turn them left and right a little let me see"
I obliged looking down and silently said a small thanks that I'd remembered to file and nails and apply some polish before I left for work this morning, I almost didn't since I was wearing covered heels but as gripped my foot and turned it around gently oh was I glad I did
"Ohh ohh" I exclaimed pulling my foot out of his grip quickly
"Where is it hurting you" he asked concerned
"Hope I didn't apply too much pressure"
His face was a sight when he saw me holding in laughter
I had pressed my hand to my mouth but the giggles still burst regardless
"Okay why are you laughing?" He was trying to keep a straight face too but I could see a smile forming at the edges of his face
"Nothing!" I burst out "You tickled me!" I burst out giggling again
I felt like a school girl but I couldn't help it.
" Oh I tickled you"he said suspiciously his tone should have alerted me because there next moment he stroked my foot while his fingers vigorously and I was stuck between holding his hand from continuing it's attack or stopping the loud giggles that kept escaping
I tried standing up from the seat but he had pinned my legs in between his arms, I could feel the pulse of the artery in his biceps as it pressed my knees together left with no option I pushed him and we both fell backwards my legs around him and our faces close for a second I thought this time he was actually going to kiss me but instead he lifted me, turned to his side and stood up with a spring!
"I guess you're foot is alright" he said back to Mayor mode all traces of the playful mischievous guy I had just seen few seconds ago if not that my heels were still upturned and I stood with my bare feet sinking into the carpet I would have thought my mind just made it up
I brushed my skirt and picked up the file from where it lay forgotten and handed it to him
