I’m seated opposite Stella at my favorite café and she’s all smiles and laughter and georgous beauty. But she has a point, it is a beautiful day today today, the sun is shining but not so much that it scalds, the skies are so blue, the birds are chirping.

“It really is.” I say smiling and meaning it.

“My husband and I are thinking of moving here you know,” she says and I have to back paddle.

“Husband? You’re married?”

She laughs and shakes her head, it occurs to me then that I don’t know a lot about Stella.

“Yes, for about seven years now? It’s been great. The kids and k are really lucky to have found someone like Tom.”

Kids??? What psycho parallel universe was this? Stella had children?

“You have children?” I say and she brings out her phone and shows me a picture.

“Two of them. Andrea and Tommy. They’re my gifts” I take the phone from her and look at the picture, they’re both toddlers and they look just like their mother, beautiful red hair and green eyes. They were georgous.

“They’re beautiful Stella.” I say handing her back her phone.

Troy comes over and I smile when I see him.

“Hey Troy,” I say and she smiles at me.

“Hey pretty. It’s always s great day in town when two goergous ladies make an appearance here.” He said and Stella laughs.

“Such a sweet mouth this one. But I’m sure I’m not the one you have your eyes on.” She winks and he scratches the back of his head.

I know Troy is into me, he’s been since the very first day I walked in here wirh Ryan weeks ago and maybe I’m psycho because I’m not into him back, he’s hot and kind and beautiful and he’s been nothing but nice and gracious with me.

“Oh please, Troy has his hands full with the ladies of the town.” I say and laugh semi awkwardly.

He smiles at me and asks;

“What can I get you both?”

We both order our drinks and he goes to get them.

Stella resumes talk of her life. She tells me she has a bakery and I’m even more surprised. I learn so much that by the time I’m done with my drink I’m wondering if k judged her too harshly.

“Well, I think I’ve taken up enough of your time Evie, but this was fun right?” She asks and I nod,

“Yes, it was.”

We’re about to get up when the lights go out.

Huh

It gets a little dark and then the sprinklers come on.

I smell it before k even feel the stickiness on my body.

Metallic.Putrid. Blood.

The lights come back on, confirming what I already know.

There are screams everywhere as people are covered in the raining showers of blood.

“What the hell!” Stella screams parting her hair, I’m afraid to talk because I don’t want it getting into my mouth.
