Ididhave the answer, though.

I just didn’t want to accept it.

When you’re in love,you know.

And it doesn’t matter if it’s been a year or a minute.

I fell in love with Owen in one night.

Being in love feels like magic.

It’s enchantment.

It’s being cherished.

It’s him paying attention to the tiny details of you.

It’s him knowing how to ease your nerves, learning how you like to be touched, doing your favorite things with you.

It’s him wanting to stretch for you.

It’s you wanting to stop running and start trusting.

I finish my shower and wrap the towel around me before going back to Owen.

I expect to find him either on a call or checking emails on his phone.

I don’t find him doing either of those things.

I find him sitting in that seat, drinking coffee, doing nothing but waiting for me.

He watches me walk to him, his eyes never leaving mine.

God, those eyes.

I will never get enough of them.

When I reach him, I straddle him, resting my knees on the chair on either side of his legs. I loop my hands around his neck while his hands come around my waist.

“You keep your word,” I say.

His eyes search mine. “I do.”

“You show up.”

He nods. “Yes.”

“And you get naked with me.”

“I’m presuming you’re not talking about literal nakedness.”

I smile. “I’m not, although if you ever stop doing that, I’ll have a conniption.”

That amuses him. “Good to know.”

I bring my hands around to his face. “I love you, Owen. I’ve loved you from our first night together because even then, when you barely knew me, youknewme. And ever since then, you’ve been showing up exactly how I needed you to. I do want this with you. I want all of this with you, and I want it forever.”

Every ounce of restraint I know he’s been using since the moment I told him I didn’t want this disappears and his lips crash down onto mine. His tongue finds mine and he kisses me like it’s the only thing he wants in the entire world. LikeI’mthe only thing he wants in the entire world.
