He moves into me, backing me up against the elevator wall, looking down at me with all that heat. “You did, and then I told you about my gym habits. It’s your turn.”

“Okay, but I imagine your gym habits aren’t a guarded secret. I don’t think that information counts. And honestly, I’m still in the dark as to just how many hours you dedicate to this body. You say you have enough time to work out, to sleep, and to date, but—”

Owen’s mouth silences all the words tumbling out of my mouth.

It also silences all the rambling thoughts in my mind.

Not to mention his hand that’s sliding into my hair while his other hand is getting intimate with my waist again. The man is a magician, juggling the bottle of wine and my body.

I grasp his shirt while I lose myself in his lips, easily forgetting anything and everything that came before this moment in my life.

Owen knows his way around a kiss.

He’s sure about what he’s doing. Confident in a way I like.

When he deepens the kiss, his tongue moving over mine, I’m helpless but to moan into him.

I actually think I’m only one moment away from just giving up on anythingbutmoaning.

At the sound I make, Owen tightens his hold of me and growls while kissing me even more thoroughly.

If I thought I was turned on while dancing with him, I had no idea he has the power to make me want him more. Right now, I want nothing more than to spend every second of my life with his hands and mouth on me. And Jesus, I know that’s ridiculous, because we just met, and because this is one night only, but a girl can’t tell her body how to feel or what to want.

I kiss him back just as thoroughly. When the elevator sounds to alert us that we’ve arrived at our destination, we’re so consumed with each other that we ignore the alert.

It’s not until a couple join us in the elevator that Owen lets me go with a growly curse.

I meet the woman’s eyes as I attempt to regain control of my thoughts, my body, my life. She reminds me of my mother by the way she’s dressed uber conservatively and the look of judgment in her eyes. The only difference between them from the outside is their age. This woman looks to be no more than thirty-five. How sad for her that she’s so stiff.

“Darling,” I say to Owen as I note the fact we missed our floor and are now on our way back down to a lower floor. “You really need to stop trying to fuck me in elevators. We missed our floor.”

The amusement in his eyes beats the shock in the woman’s. I said it to play with her, but I’m here for the way it’s entertained him.

The elevator stops and the couple exit.

Owen presses the button for his floor again. “Feel free to call me darling again. Particularly if you’re trying to stir up trouble.”

I pull him back to me. “I feel like you should be made aware that I’m always trying to stir up trouble.”

I’ve got my hands and mouth on him again before he can reply to that. I’ve also got a leg curled around his.

When the elevator reaches his floor, neither of us move fast to untangle our bodies. When Owen does make a move to let me go, I grip his neck and keep his mouth on mine. I really don’t want him to stop what he’s doing to me.

When the elevator doors close and it starts another descent, he smiles into the kiss and finally finds a way out of my hold. “You think we should just stay in here for the rest of the night?” He presses the button for his floor. Again.

Damn I like his eyes.

Yes, we’ve established that more than once tonight, but I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of them. Especially when they’re conveying his enchantment with me like they are right now.

I settle a hand on his waist. “I have a freckle between my big toe and my second toe on my right foot.”

He takes a moment, processing that, his smile never leaving his face. After he dips his face back to mine so he can brush another kiss across my lips, he asks, “How does no one know that?”

I shrug. “No one’s taken the time to discover it.”

“You’ve been with amateurs.” He slides a hand into my hair and kisses me slowly, deliberately, like he’s exploring, learning, pursuing. When he’s finished, he lets me go and says, “You should never give your time to amateurs.”

The elevator stops and we’re met by Poppy who frowns at us before entering. She selects her floor. “I’m not even going to ask why you two are in here looking like you do.”
