I gritted my teeth.

We didn’t need to look at our phones to realize what was happening here.

We were set up. By the rest of the guys.

“You gonna look?” Remi asked.

“I don’t think I have to look, Remi. I think I know exactly what’s going on here.”

Remi nodded. “Yup”

“Those assholes did this. To try and help us out. They think we’re going to sit down, have a few beers and start talking. Then start laughing. Then end up hugging by the end of the night.”

“You think that’s going to happen, Riff?”

“Not until I beat the shit out of you,” I said.

Remi’s jaw tightened.

I was surprised he didn’t jump at me right then to attack me.

Remi showed composure.

A rare thing.

“So this was their big plan,” I said. “Abel says there’s a team dinner. Then they all don’t show up. Leaving us to have dinner and drinks alone.”

“Well, we’re not exactly alone, Riff,” Remi said.

Remi moved his eyes for a split second behind me.

My first thought was Remi hired guys to beat me up.

Not that Remi had a history of ever doing that.

I quickly spun around, ready for anything.

Or so I thought.

Fiona walked toward me.

When she saw me, she froze in place.

So we’re both supposed to be having dinner and drinks with Remi?

All I could thinkabout was fucking Fiona.

Literally…fucking her.

Remi sat between us as we sat at the bar.

I had no idea why I decided to stay.

Other than the fact that Remi made a little sense when he said that if we just tell everyone we hung out for a minute or two, they’d have no choice but to shut up.

All I could think about?

His sister.
