Years of anger finally coming forward.

I thought about the day I met Remi.

My best friend.

A brother to me.

I thought about the accident that almost took Fiona’s life.

How much I hated myself for that.

How many times I apologized.

I even let Remi beat me up after that happened.

It still wasn’t good enough for him to move forward.

I let out a growling noise and clocked Remi in the jaw.

“I saved your fucking life,” I said. “I should have let you blow up.”

“I told you to help everyone else,” Remi growled.

We ended up in some twisted headlock and the two of us fell to the ice.

I tried to choke him. He tried to choke me.

The refs had no chance of breaking up this fight.

Remi and I were making complete fools of ourselves.

An embarrassment for the team. For the fans. For the entire league.

But it had just become too much.

We needed this in a sense.

It took everyone to peel us apart.

The game had come to a complete stop.

As soon as Remi and I got back on our skates, we went for each other.

Matias put his right arm around my neck and pulled.

“Stop,” he roared into my ear. “You fucking idiot. Just stop.”

Him and Abel pulled me across the ice and basically threw me into the tunnel.

Security waited for me and escorted me to the locker room.

I had no idea what happened next.

Penalty? Kicked out of the game?

In the locker room, I started to take my equipment off, throwing it around as hard as I could.

My face was swollen and throbbed in pain.
