And how it all revolved around me.

I didn’t want to blame myself and become some kind of victim in this.

But they were fighting on live television.

On the same team.

Riff and Remi toppled to the ice.

They were still fighting.

I covered my mouth and my eyes filled with tears.

When the fight was finally broken up, I slowly walked to the kitchen and found something to drink.

I poured whiskey in a glass.

I put the glass to my lips.

Then I paused.

I didn’t take the drink.

Instead, I went back to the living room and watched more of the insanity on the television screen.

The announcers talking about the fight. How it never happens like that.

Cutting to an extended commercial break.

I grabbed my phone and jumped on social media.

That made everything even worse.

Everything was… bad.

Really bad.

Everyone had an opinion and everyone had a rumor to spread.

So hockey fights were totally common.

They were expected.

There wasn’t a true hockey fan out there that didn’t look forward to seeing two guys throwing punches at one another.

In a hockey fight there was respect mixed with hatred.

There were unwritten rules to a hockey fight.

Sometimes things went too far.

Sometimes guys actually did hate each other in real life and were out for blood.

But to have two teammates fight like Remi and Riff just did?

That was completely unheard of.

It was…impossible… but not.
