I grab Remi and pull him toward the Christmas tree.

The fight ends when the Christmas tree falls to the floor.

And Remi and I look like complete jerks.

“You sure youknow where to go?” Remi asked.

“Yes. Want me to explain?”

“Sure, Riff.”

It was a miracle I got Remi to get into my car.

I told him he had to get into my car or else I wasn’t going to go to where Fiona was.

He threatened to hit me.

I told him if he knocked me out, he’d never see Fiona.

“She texted me about a place,” I said.

“A place? When?”

“Before shit hit the fan, Remi,” I said. “Demi has a beach house.”

Remi gritted his teeth. “Oh.”

“I haven’t been there yet. But…”

“Just stop,” he said. “I don’t need to hear about it.”

“You can’t accept it? Fiona and I, alone in a beach house? Enjoying each other?”

“I saidenough,” Remi growled.

“You brought it up.”

“I didn’t bring a thing up!”

“You asked if I knew where I was going. What do you think I’m doing? Just driving in circles and pretending?”

“Riff. I’m really not in the mood.”

“And you think I am? In this car? With you? Thinking about everything again?”

“What’s there to think about?”

“A lot, Remi. All these years. All this bullshit.”

Remi let out an evil chuckling sound. “This isn’t a movie. We’re not going to kiss and be friends.”

“I don’t want to kiss you. Disgusting.”

“I didn’t mean that literally.”

“But your sister? Now she knows how to kiss.”

“Do you want to die?” Remi asked.
