I went to sit down on the couch and I noticed something on the coffee table.

Now, I was the woman who hated anything to do with flowers.

The thought of a guy getting me flowers…

Yes, we all know this.

That said, there was an exception.

I secretly liked sunflowers.

Small ones.

The yellow and the black. It was nice. Fitting for me in a sense.

Riff knew that.

And that’s what waited for me on the table.

A single sunflower in a glass of water.

A note next to it.

Peace offering? Not as a couple. Duh.

I sat back on the couch and smiled.

That was the thing about Riff…

Sometimes he was just too damn perfect.

Chapter Nine

RIFF

So here’s the deal.

I left her a flower.

And a note.

Not a big deal at all.

It was not my business to get involved with anything in her personal life.

And that was the end of that.

The beauty of Fiona and I screwing around was that we kept it honest.

No feelings. No need to worry about that stuff.

Which meant the situation was over.

Time to move on.

Which we did.

“Oh, man, I have to talk to you,” Lay said as he sat down, putting frosted glasses filled with ice cold beer in front of us.
