“What now?”

“Can’t get mad at me.”

“What did you do, Lay? Is this why we’re out here alone?”

“No. Everyone else was busy. Screw them. Cheers, Riff.”

He lifted his glass.

It was our third drink each.

I was not going to do thecheers to being singlething each time we got a beer.

Lay took the hint and took a drink.

He smacked his lips together and sighed.

“Beer,” he said. “Almost as good as-”

“Don’t say it,” I said.

“What? I was going to say pizza. What were you thinking?”

Lay gave me that smirk.

“Liar,” I said. “You were going to saypussy.”

“Yum,” he said. “Which brings me to our topic of the night.”

I shook my head. “What?”

“I have the perfect woman for you.”

That made me laugh out loud. “What?”

“Hear me out.”

“Lay, what is this?”

“I’m just helping a friend.”

“I didn’t ask for your help. I don’t need your help.” I shook my head. “You’re worried about my bedroom activity? Me? You should worry about yourself.”

Lay called outHa!and pointed at me. “You thinkIneed help. Want to hear my stats?”

“No. I don’t want to hear your stats. I don’t want you worried about mine. You know, I actually thought maybe for a second you had something going with Gerdy.”

“Really? That again?” Lay sighed. “I already told you guys what that was.”

“You can never be serious, can you, Lay?”

“I’m serious right now,” he said.

He stared at me.

I didn’t respond for a second or two.

I pondered what this guy was really up to here.
