Did he and Gerdy actually have something real? Did she hurt him? Did he run off because Gerdy having cancer was too much for him to handle? Was he mad at himself?

This was Lay I was thinking about though.

The only time he ever got mad at himself was if he forgot to ask for extra onions on his tacos.

Anything to do with women…never.

“Lay,” I said.

“She’s beautiful.”

“Why does it matter?”

“Here, look at her,” Lay said.

“Of course you have pictures on your phone. Lay, what the hell are you up to?”

Lay placed his phone in front of me.

A beautiful woman was on the screen.

Standing on the beach, long blonde hair tucked on her right side. A red flower behind her left ear. A perfect face. A perfect smile. Bright blue eyes. Natural lips smothered with gloss. A thin - totally see through - shawl looking thing on her body. Wearing a bright red bikini that was more of a bra and thong set than something considered swimwear.

“I know what you like,” Lay said. “You’re torn between making a comment about her lips and her tits. Right?”

Her breasts were a very nice size for her body. Pressed together thanks to whoever designed that bikini top.

“Lips,” I said.

“Yeah, right,” Lay said.

I inched Lay’s phone back toward him.

“Swipe,” he said. “Believe me.”

He winked.

“I am not swiping on your phone,” I said. “I don’t want to know what’s in this thing.”

“The more you swipe, the less clothes she has on,” Lay said.

“What? This woman sent you these pictures? Why? Are you trying to get into bed with someone using my name?”

Lay laughed again. “I don’t need your name or your ugly face. This is a cousin thing.”

“What does that mean?A cousin thing?”

Lay swiped on his phone a few times.

“Look at her,” he said.

Another beautiful woman stared back at me.

She was on her knees, in the sand, hands in her hair, with a vixen-like look on her face.

Definitely Lay’s type.

“They don’t like to date alone,” Lay said. “Now I know I can work around this, just take both out.”
