“Checking on you.”
“You were on the other private flight. You know more than I do.”
“These guys are all going out for the night. But not you.”
“Says who?”
“Says me,” Coach Denny said. “Says Ellen. Says the organization. You’re going to prove yourself here, Joe.”
“By what? Listening to your commands?”
“Exactly,” Coach Denny said. “Instead of going out tonight, you’re going to handle your personal business.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning you brought that doctor with you. So… you know what I’m saying.”
Coach Denny grabbed his bag and exited the room.
Without anyone around, I blew off a little steam by grabbing a chair and throwing it across the room.
Then I took out my phone.
I guess I had no choice but to spend the night with Anna.
