“I am. I just said so.”
“Uh-huh,” Bethany repeated. “Going to…look over your notes?”
She whispered in a sultry voice.
I cringed. “Call me if something important happens.”
Bethany began to moan.
I hung up the call.
Then I opened the calendar.
I looked at a specific date.
The date when we were leaving to go back home.
A two game road trip.
With some time in between.
Not much.
Just a day in between games.
That means finishing off today… which is basically done.
Nice.
Then tomorrow is hockey day.
Then a day off.
Then another hockey day.
Then we fly out.
Right after the game!
It’s perfect!
I studied the date.
I even geeked out a little and figured out how many minutes were left.
Minutes left to deal with Joe and then get back home.
And…
It was like Joe and I were in a room together the entire time.
I had my own room.
The door was locked.
Nothing to worry about.
Absolutely nothing to worry about.
