I satwith my phone on my lap.
Waiting for the call.
My feet up on the coffee table. Television turned off. All the curtains open in my place, letting the sunlight flood the rooms.
Almost a smile on my face too.
She thought she could get rid of me?
She’s the one who started this.
She saw my name and didn’t say a word.
She wanted to see me.
She wanted to talk to me.
My phone began to ring.
I glanced down and let out a laugh.
“Bet I’m in trouble now,” I said as I reached for the phone. I answered Anna’s call. “Good morning, baby.”
“What the fuck are you trying to prove, Joe?”
“I’m sorry?”
“Don’t…”
“What? What did I do?”
I actually found myself smiling ear to ear.
