My eyes opened to a familiar ceiling.
We were in the shared apartment—the top floor of the building. A heavy arm laid across me, pinning my hips. Silver, face down on the mattress. Grave slept on my other side, seemingly as asleep as Silver.
I was different.
Lifting my hand, I watched my skin sparkle and shine from within like I was a lamp made of glass.
Light.
Just thinking the word, and I had what looked like starlight at my fingertips. Power flowed through me so quickly I jerked like I’d been electrified.
Magic.
I had magic.
The light last night… was me.
Everything clicked together, and my mind and body eased. I understood now what they’d been trying to tell me and guide me through. There was no struggle. I knew why they needed what they did, and why I needed it to.
Athanasíawas at my fingertips. All I had to do was call my power into my body completely, and it would change me.
I thought I might be afraid of the possibility, but I wasn’t. Everything felt so… simple. Joy lit me up, my body taking on a new glow as I smiled. They got me here. I could do it. Turning my head, I opened my mouth to wake up my mates and show them everything, and stopped.
The power that now raced below my skin was too much. I wouldn’t own this much after I released it. My newfound understanding told me I needed to be far away from everyone and everything I loved. The light in me would level this building, and maybe the clubhouse, too.
How far would it go? There was no way to know, but I was a walking bomb ready to be set off.
For the first time, I truly understood why we were a danger. If I wasn’t in my own mind, sent to trigger this against someone’s enemy? It would be devastating.
I smothered a laugh.
Itwouldbe devastating.
Careful not to jostle my mates, I got to my feet. They barely moved. Last night took just as much out of them, and they didn’t have new magic lighting them up like a fucking neon sign.
How did I use this? God, they were going to have to teach me everything. I couldn’t wait… but this one thing I needed to do alone.
“Sleep,” I whispered, aiming my power at them.
Their bodies softened further, snores coming from someone. Good. I needed them to sleep long enough for me to do this. They wouldn’t let me, and it was the best chance we had to end this quickly.
I was going to give the Legion exactly what they wanted: me. They told Silver to deliver me by my birthday.
Well, it was my birthday, and I was going to deliver myself to them right before I blew them the fuck up.
Laughing to myself, I slipped out of the apartment and downstairs. This was going to be fun.
CHAPTER FORTY
____________
SKYLA
ATHANASÍA
Ishowered the remnants of our chase off quickly. The Legion had plans, and I wasn’t going to let them happen. There wasn’t much time. I had to do this.
