We went home. The ride back wasn’t nearly as frantic as the ride here. It felt almost leisurely by the time we made it back to the compound.

Well done, Silver spoke into all of our minds.Thank you.We will talk about what happens next at church. For now, celebrate.

A cheer went up through the plaza, and I spied Clementine being scooped up by the prospect, Brian, and carried toward the barracks building. My kind of celebration. We’d get there soon enough.

“Office,” Silver said. “Skyla too. Bookend. Ghost,” he called them. “Inside.”

I guided Skyla into the office with a hand on her shoulder and I sat her directly on my lap where she could feel the rod of diamond that was currently my dick.

Silver leaned against his desk, watching the two members come in. Wraith took his normal spot on the wall, and the others fit in around Silver. It was crowded.

“You took her to them?” Silver asked Bookend.

“I did.”

The energy in the room crackled. “Tell me why I shouldn’t kill you for putting my mate and queen in danger, and also touching what’s mine by putting her on your bike.”

“I made them do it,” Skyla said. “They helped me because I asked.”

Silver looked over without moving his head, silencing her. This was club business. No matter if she asked, they should have said no. Just because it worked out for the best doesn’t mean it was excused.

“You’ve wanted to kill me for a while,” Bookend said. “I can feel it. So I decided to do something I thought might help for once instead of pussy-footing around like we have been for the last few years. All because of her. Though she’s growing on me.” He looked at my mate. “You’ve got balls, I’ll give you that.”

“Eyes on me,” Silver growled. “Now that it’s over and they’re gone, are you going to get your head out of your ass?”

“Are you going to keep disappearing and letting things go soft because you’ve found some good pussy?”

All five of us snarled.

“Watch your mouth when you talk about the Queen,” Grave said.

Bookend grit his teeth so hard we all heard his jaw creak. “We’re weaker than we were, Silver. We won today, but we are weaker.”

Silver looked at him long and hard. “This is your last chance,” he said. “Get out of my sight before I change my mind. I’ll let you know what I have in mind for you.”

I snickered, knowing Bookend would probably spend the next three months cleaning the grout and toilets of every bathroom in the barracks and clubhouse with a toothbrush.

“And you?” Silver asked Ghost.

“I told her no,” he said. “I wouldn’t take her, because I love Jessie, and I love the Shadows.”

Skyla nodded, though she didn’t speak.

“Why didn’t you wake me immediately?”

Ghost ran his hands over his face. “Because she looked desperate, Pres. And I wasn’t sure who I was supposed to obey. You as president or her as queen.”

“Me. You will obey me in all things.”

In my lap, Skyla moved like she was going to protest. “Don’t you fucking dare move,” I breathed in her ear.

“I will,” Ghost said.

Silver sighed. “Go celebrate and don’t do it again.”

He bowed before leaving the room. Shadows surrounded us, and suddenly the six of us were in our shared apartment, the mattress still a mess from our frenzy this afternoon.

“Now, my little mate,” Silver said, “We’ll deal with you.”
