“What’s that?”

“A lock that keeps you out.” Slamming the door in their faces, I heard the low rumbles of laughter on the other side.

CHAPTER NINE

____________

COMET

DOMESTICATED

We all returned to Silver’s apartment together. I went straight to the bar and poured myself a drink. “That went well.”

“All things considered, I thought it did,” Wraith said.

I snorted. “She’s going to be even more angry when she realizes what we are to her.”

Silver sprawled on the couch. “She’ll be fine. Right now, it’s a lot. Once she has her stuff and gives herself a chance to breathe, she’ll be all right.”

“She wants us,” Delta pointed out. “That’s not up for debate.”

“Silver,” I said, drawing my President’s gaze. “You said we’d talk.”

He smirked. “I did. Get me a drink, and we will.”

I poured him one and gave it to him before going to my favorite chair in his apartment.

“What are we talking about?” Wraith asked.

“Comet gave me some lip at church,” Silver said casually.

I choked on my drink. “Asshole. I told you I wasn’t going to defer to you in our relationship with Skyla because she’s ourâmmeluneas well. This is beyond club and Court structure.”

Delta stretched, reaching up to hang off the doorframe to the kitchen. “He’s got a point.”

Silver looked at each of us in turn. “She leads,” he finally said. “Not us. We’ll tell her together when she’s ready, but the rest of it is her. When our relationship clashes with club business, we’ll speak about it privately. Don’t undermine me in front of the members.”

“Never,” Grave said.

None of us would. Even if we weren’t his lieutenants in the club, we were subject to his rule. Technically we were the princes of Shadow, but none of us clung to the title. It didn’t mean much in our day-to-day lives. Being fae often took a back seat. But with Skyla near us now, I was bracing against my instincts the same way they were.

To mark. Toclaim. To make her mine and then watch the others take their time with her. To bathe her in power and pleasure until she was drunk on it. Tonever. Fucking. Stop.

I glanced at the clock. “It’s not too late. I can go get some of her things. Maybe grab her phone from the club.”

Grave nodded. “She should be able to speak to her friends.”

“Though I doubt she’ll have many good things to say about us right now,” Wraith chuckled.

I thought about it for a second. “What if we bring Maggie here for the night?”

Silver glanced at me. “Here?”

“She’s not letting us back in tonight. The least we can do is give her some normalcy. Hell, if she does have some of that normalcy, maybe it will get her settled faster.”

Delta did what he did, suddenly putting his hands on the floor and pushing himself into a handstand. “I’ll go get the cat stuff. She needs that tonight.”

Silver laughed and scrubbed a hand over his face. “Fucking hell, we’re already domesticated.”
