I knocked on her door and heard swearing when she looked through the peephole. The door slammed open. “Where thefuckis she? I’ve been calling her for hours and there’s no one at the club.”

“That’s our fault.” I held out my hands. “Her phone got left at the club. We’re here to bring you to her. Grab an overnight bag and some things for Sky. Whatever you think is important.”

“Why?”

“I think it’s better if you hear it from her.”

Maggie narrowed her eyes. “If you hurt her—”

“You know better than that, Mags.” I pushed in from the hallway. “The faster we do this, the faster you can see her.”

“Fine.”

Wraith stayed by the door, watching in case anything went wrong. I wouldn’t put it past the Legion sending someone to watch Skyla’s place. I would do it if the positions were reversed. I made a note to talk to Silver about getting our own sentry on this place.

“What can I grab for her?”

“Don’t touch her shit,” Maggie said.

Burying both my smile and my retort, I leaned against the wall and waited for her to do her whirlwind thing. I planned on touching plenty of Sky’s stuff in the near future. Hopefully, Skyla herself.

“Okay.” Maggie tossed her hair over her shoulder and hoisted a duffle bag. “Let’s go.”

I raised an eyebrow. “You sure? That was fast.”

“Listen, Comet, I know you guys are head over heels for her, but I just spent the last six hours in a panic, wondering if my best friend was dead. Don’t fuck with me right now.”

Wraith looked over his shoulder. “Sure you’re not a pixie? You’re bratty enough to be one.”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” She strode out the door, only for Wraith to pull her back.

“Let us go first and lock your door.”

Her face went blank. We weren’t fucking with her, and she knew it. “Okay.”

We were outside in under a minute, with Maggie on the back of my bike. The faster we were out of No Man’s Land again, the better. I didn’t trust anyone out here. Speeding through the streets, we made it back in record time.

“Wow,” Maggie said. “I’m in the inner sanctum of the Iron Shadows. Should I feel honored?”

“If you want. Right now I’m just happy you’ll be here for her.”

“Oh my god.” We walked into the lobby of our building, and she looked everywhere. “This isn’t exactly what you think of when you think of guys on bikes.”

“Nor do we want people to think that.” I sent her a warning glance, and she nodded. Maggie was a good person, but she was perfectly aware of the delicate balance of power we all lived by. Whatever she saw here would stay with her.

I knocked on Skyla’s door. “Sky.”

It took a second for her to come to the door, footsteps strong and sassy. Just the sound of them made me smile.

“What?” She threw open the door and I got a wave of her blueberries and cream scent. The fucking tempting short robe she had on earlier was still wrapped around her, showing me the entirety of her gorgeous legs and more than an eyeful of her breasts. Everything about her sang to me, and I wanted to push her inside, up against the wall, and bury myself in her.

“Special delivery,” I said, stepping aside.

Skyla saw Maggie and melted. “Oh my god.”

Maggie hugged her. “You are inso much trouble. I thought you were dead.”

“Yeah, I figured,” Skyla said. “Come in.”
