She glanced at Wraith and me. It was the kindest look she’d given us all day. “Thank you.”

I took the risk, stepping into her and slipping an arm around her waist. “Anytime, beautiful. We’d do anything for you, you know that, right?”

Her face flushed, and she looked straight through my chest. “I know.”

“Still mad?”

Those beautiful blue eyes filled with tears, and I brushed one away. “I lost everything. Of course I’m mad. I’m so mad I don’t know what to do with myself. And I don’twantto be angry with you.”

“But you still are,” I said gently.

“Yeah. I’m sorry.”

I leaned down and pressed my lips to her cheek, breathing her in. “Don’t be sorry,” I said. “I get it. But I’m looking forward to when you’re not angry.”

“Why?” Her voice was breathy, and instantly I understood Delta’s statement earlier. She did want us. Her scent deepened with helpless arousal just being near us.

“Because we’ve waited a long time to have a taste of you, and I can’t wait to hear you scream.”

Skyla’s whole body shuddered. “Thank you for bringing Mags.”

I breathed her in one more time. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

She closed the door between us, and I looked over at Wraith. “I need a cold shower,” I said.

He laughed once. “Fuck that. I’m taking a hot one. I have soap that needs using.”

As I waited for the elevator, I hoped that Skyla heard.

CHAPTER TEN

SKYLA

COOKIES AND WINE

I’d been about to burst with the second knock on the door. The first was Delta, with more cat things than I could reasonably use, including a robot litter box I hadn’t even had a chance to set up when Comet knocked.

Falling back onto the bed, I stared at the ceiling. “Sorry, Mags. It’s been… a long fucking day.”

“They said your phone is at the club?”

“If I’m lucky.”

“Okay, spill.” A crunch of plastic drew my attention. Maggie opened a package of cookies, and there was a bottle of wine on the bed. “I brought supplies. Does this place have a bottle opener?”

“Probably.”

It did. And when I had a mouthful of cookies and wine, I told her everything that happened while her jaw dropped all the way to the floor. Halfway through, she grabbed one of the toys Delta brought over and had Cream Puff chasing it all around the bedroom.

Then we were caught up to the present, and I was exhausted from going through it all again.

“Damn, girl.”

“Yeah.”

“Well, now I’m less mad about you not calling. You had your hands full.”
