“Mmm, you can,” Grave rumbled. “We’ll help.”

“How?”

A snicker to my right. Delta. “I think you’ll enjoy it.” He still didn’t say how.

“We decided we’re each going to take some time with you before your birthday so you experience what it’s like to be with us,” Wraith said. “What we like, how we fuck, and what our fae sides are like. So there aren’t any surprises. You’re ourâmmelune, but we’re still learning each other. More importantly, we can pull out your instincts and help your fae rise. So that when the time comes, it’s easier.”

“I’d like that.” I meant it. Despite the awkward tension in the air, I still wanted them and felt the pull to them regardless. They were my mates, even if my head felt stuffed with cotton confusion.

“The legion has set a deadline,” Comet said. “To hand you over to them. Or they’ll destroy No Man’s Land.”

Clarity snapped into me. They needed me to be ready so I could do it as soon as possible. No Man’s Land was five miles wide and thirty miles long. People and creatures of every species lived there. Some who had no idea they were in a neutral zone between two supernatural clubs, and some, like me, who had good reason to hide. They would all be in danger. “Shit. I need to warn people. They have to get out of there.”

Wraith cleared his throat. “We’re already on it, Sky. Don’t worry. Nothing has changed for the moment. All you need to worry about is you, yourathanasía, and us. We’ll take care of it.”

“But—”

“Skyla,” Silver said my name, and I shuddered. “Maggie, Jessie, and Clementine are welcome here. We will do our best to warn people and help them. But,” he paused, emphasizing the word like I had. “You seem to have forgotten something important about fae, baby girl.”

“What’s that?”

Grave was still teasing me, and every second that passed made it less and less bearable. He was going to have to just fuck me at this rate.

“We can’t lie. So when we tell you something, it is the truth.”

We all knew that there was more to it than that. Fae couldn’t lie, but they could talk around the truth like the best lawyers in the world. Fae deals, too, were dangerous and complex. But these men weren’t just ordinary fae. They were my mates, and they were telling me they weren’t lying.

More than that, it was both a command and a plea.Trust us.Rely on us.

It had been a long time since I could do either. “Okay,” I whispered, swallowing the worry building up in my chest. “You said you hadn’t explained things. Explain what things?”

Comet pulled me out from under Grave and fit my back against his chest, wrapping his arms around my stomach. “Do youfeelyour fae side, gorgeous?”

I did, and I didn’t. My senses were heightened, and I knew I moved differently than humans. I had far more control over my body. But other than that? “Kind of.”

“What about when I do this?” Comet closed his teeth over my throat. Not biting, but hard enough for me to feel the danger. Like Wraith had done before.

Something shifted. My body wilted, going limp in his arms. I didn’t feel like someone different, but there was something happening deep within me I couldn’t control. I’d had flashes of this, but nothing permanent and nothing real.

“That’s your fae side surrendering,” Wraith said, voice rough as he watched.

“Being fae is one thing,” Delta said. “Being both a hybrid and anâmmeluneis another.”

Silver brushed the hair out of his eyes. “Our fae sides crave you, baby girl. You already know that. As our mate, weneedto protect you and cherish you. Provide for you and make sure you’re all right. In the same way, your fae side craves the stability, discipline, and protection we offer. We need your submission as much as you need to give it.”

I scoffed. “Really?”

Delta smirked. “You’re going to pretend you don’t like being held down and fucked?”

“I didn’t think this was about fucking.”

He shrugged. “It’s notonlyabout fucking.”

Silver waved a hand. “The only way is to show you. It’s easier to understand through experience. But leaning into those instincts is the best way to merge with your fae self. If you don’t fully inhabit it, reachingathanasíawill be close to impossible.”

“What’s the plan for that?”

“Some of this is uncharted territory,” Silver said quietly. “If there’s ever been a hybrid who’s also anâmmelune, I don’t know about it.”
