Iwasanervouswreck bringing Talia to The Pendulum for the first time. We had played out more scenes than I could count, but that was at home and this was in public. We both agreed that we wouldn’t play here, but tonight she would see things she likely never imagined. There were people who knew me and knew of my work. There wasn’t much I hadn’t told Talia about, but it wasn’t like I showed her pictures of old partners before, either. Kink wasn’t only about fucking for me, and I’d had scenes with a lot of different people here in the past. I just hoped none of it would come back to bite me in the ass.
“You’re here!” Raven exclaimed as she ran over and pulled Talia into a hug. She was dressed in a black latex dress and combat boots.
“She hates heels,” Becket said as he caught me staring. I shrugged and reached out my hand to greet him.
“Are you ready for tonight?” he asked Talia when Raven stepped back.
“I think so.”
“You’re in for a treat. Cleo and Dare are performing on the main stage and we have a viewing room set up for the four of us after.”
“Wait until you see these two, Talia. You are going to die! They are so damn hot.”
Raven pulled Talia through the crowd and I gave her a quick wave as she looked back at me.
“How’s she doing?” Beckett asked as we took a seat at the bar.
“Good, I think. She’s still seeing Anthony and seems to be processing everything okay.”
“I still can’t believe all the shit that woman has been through.”
“Yeah, I know. Sometimes I watch her as she moves through the house without a care in the world and I have a hard time relating the woman I know now with the woman I met when I arrived in California.”
“I can imagine.”
“She’s kind of fucking amazing.”
“That she is.”
Beckett lifted his glass to mine and we drank, taking in the sight around us.
“Did you ever think we would be here? Sitting in your kink club with two women we’d want to spend the rest of our lives with?”
“Never in a million years.”
“Me either, but I’m pretty fucking happy it worked out this way.”
“Did you hear? Valentina had the baby.”
“Yeah, Nico called Talia to tell her. She couldn’t stop screaming with excitement and insisted on talking to each of the kids. Sometimes I have a hard time believing how much he’s changed, too.”
“None of us are the same people we used to be. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. We were all a bit of a mess.”
“How’s Ashlee doing?”
“She’s good. She’s dating someone and trying to hide it from me.”
I laughed, “Why is that?”
“Well, considering how I handled her ex, I guess it’s not that surprising.”
“Eh, he deserved it.”
I looked up to catch Talia as she tripped over her own feet, trying to get to me. “Woah, slow down there. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, but you have to see this. Come on.”
Talia pulled me through the crowd to where Raven was sitting, and Beckett followed close behind. On the stage, Dare had Cleo completely suspended with his ropes and he was sitting just below her holding her face in his hands. I couldn’t make out what he was saying, but the look on her face told everyone what they needed to know. Cleo was in pure bliss as her best friend, Dare, held her life in his hands.
