"I wasn't going to sit back and let you lock me in here against my will." I raised my chin. I wasn't going to apologise, but I wondered how he knew I'd fiddled with the code on the gate.

"Lucky guess," he said as though he read my mind. "It's exactly the thing I'd expect my girl to do. Exactly what I would do if I was you." He brushed his lips over mine.

"For what it's worth, it wasn't easy. It took me days just to get into the gate’s system, much less mess around with it. If I can get around that, I can get around whatever security Bell has on his house. It would also take time and I'd have to know what he has in place first."

"If I can get you that information, can you get us in?"

"In theory," I said slowly. "It would be a lot riskier than infecting his systems with a virus. I could make it so it plays an obnoxious song whenever anyone tries to boot up a computer." That wouldn't do much damage to anything but his sanity. Unless he liked the song, in which case it would backfire.

Mannix chuckled. "As tempting as that is, that's going to do a short-term amount of damage. Someone like him will have all his shit backed up in seventeen different places. If we're really going to hit him, we need to take out as much as we can. Even if doing it is as risky as hell. What's life without a little risk?"

"Boring." I hadn't seen Ice arrive, but now he was crouched down beside us. Like Mannix, he only wore shorts and a sheen of sweat.

Ares stood right behind him, looking like a blond god.

"Who's boring?" Ares curled his lip in my direction, like they must be talking about me. His attitude towards me had thawed somewhat in the last week or so, but he was still an abrasive asshole.

Still, I couldn't stop thinking about his hands all over my breasts.

I knew he wanted more, but I wouldn't push him.

"Life without risk," Ice said without looking over his shoulder. "What are we risking and when do we leave?" He didn't even know what it was and he was all in.

I admired that about him. That and the way his damp hair coiled around his ears.

"We're risking dying, and not for a few weeks." Mannix raised his face and looked up at both guys. In a handful of words, he explained what we'd talked about.

"I'm in." Ice stood and did a perfect swan dive into the water.

"Sounds like fun." Ares followed him a moment later, so close he almost hit Ice as he resurfaced.

Rather than being mad, Ice laughed. "You're going to have to try harder than that if you're going to sink the Iceman."

"More like Iceberg," Ares said. "Always in the way when you're trying to steer your ship around."

Ice frowned at him for a moment. "Is that a euphemism for jerking yourself off? Because it sounds like one."

One of Ares's eyebrows jerked upward. "That sounds accurate, because my cock is the size of the Titanic."

I waited for a beat or two, but none of the guys took the bait so I decided to.

"You realise the Titanic is really small in comparison to modern cruise ships, right?"

He flipped me off. "I meant the Titanic compared to her contemporaries."

"Sure you did." Ice drew out the first word in teasing disbelief. "Also the Titanic is a wreck at the bottom of the ocean, in case you've forgotten."

Ares rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Bro, you're missing the point. The point is—"

"I know what the point is," Ice said. "Your dick is big and fancy. And likes being wet."

"And should probably stay away from Ice," Ares added with a grunt. He started to paddle across to the other side of the pool.

Ice frowned at his back. "Ouch. Lucky I'm the hot kind of ice, not the cold kind."

"Yes, you are," I said to him.

"Definitely," Mannix agreed.
