"She definitely shouldn't," Ares said with a grunt. "It's too big a risk to take someone who doesn't know what they're doing."

"Then you better not go, because I'm the one who knows how to activate the virus," I retorted.

"You could tell one of us." He matched my tone. "You're not the only one who can—"

"Enough," Mannix snapped. "We're all going. We only need to blend in long enough to do what needs to be done and then we get the fuck out of there. Samuel Bell should be busy playing the dutiful host, and most of the people won't know what we look like."

"It's the people who do know what we look like that I'm worried about," Ares said. "If anyone from Brutham is there—"

"We do the best we fucking can to avoid them." Mannix fixed him with a firm look. "This isn't our first rodeo. We all know what we need to do. We go in, do it and get out."

"Can we have a drink before we leave?" Ice asked.

Mannix's response was to shake his head. "We can get shitfaced afterwards."

Ice pumped the air with his fist. "Hell yeah."

"Wait until we have something to celebrate," Ares told him.

"I always have something to celebrate, I'm me." Ice grinned.

Ares gave him the side eye and a snort. "Whatever you say, bro."

Ice clapped him on the shoulder, hard enough to hurt judging by the expression on Ares' face.

"I do say," Ice said.

I tuned out their banter as I slipped my feet into a pair of heels. I twisted my hair into a neat bun and pinned it into place.

I felt sexy. Mannix couldn't have made a better choice. It seemed as though he knew me better than my mother did, or at least he had better taste.

I couldn't dismiss the possibility he saw the darkness in me and matched the dress to it. I hadn't exactly tried to hide it from him or the other guys. They got me like no one else ever had. For the first time in my life, I felt like I didn't have to hide.

"We could do rock, paper, scissors," Ice was saying when I tuned back in.

"What are you competing over?" I asked.

"Who's going to take that dress off you when this is finished," Ice said with a shit-eating grin.

Yeah, I should have guessed.

"Shouldn't we be going?" I picked up my phone and the USB, and raised my perfectly plucked eyebrows at the guys.

"I'd rather be coming, but let's get this done." Ice offered me his arm.

Mannix narrowed his eyes at him, but stepped out the door in front of us. Ares walked behind.

"That's not a limo," Ice remarked as we stepped out the front of the hotel toward a dark grey sedan.

"The idea is to blend in at old man Bell's party," Mannix said. "A limo would stand out like dogs’ balls."

"Or mine." Ice grabbed his groin. "Mine stand out more than any dog I've ever seen."

"That's only because your cock is so small it makes your balls look big," Ares remarked.

"That sounds like jealousy talking to me," Ice told him.

Ares barked a laugh and slipped into the passenger seat beside the driver. He muttered something about Ice being delusional and pulled the door closed behind him.
