Kristin laughed. “Famous last words.”

The next day found me, Kristin, and Sarah at The Covens’ Magick Cottage. Sarah held up a bottle of Moondust.

“What’s in it?” Kristin asked.

“Sea salt,” I said as I took the bottle. “Because of the connection between the sea and the moon. Jasmine ashes, because jasmine corresponds with the moon. Glitter because it reflects light, just like the moon. I made it last night and Sarah charged in the moonlight overnight.”

Nodding like she understood, Kristin looked from the bottle to me and then asked, “What’s the connection with the moon?”

“It’s used to call energy from the moon for the spell,” Sarah stated like Kristin should have known that. “Are you not reading the book I gave you?”

Rolling her eyes, Kristin said, “I’m trying to, but I keep falling asleep!”

I couldn’t help but giggle. Taking Kristin’s arm, I said, “Come on, let’s go.”

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” Sarah grumbled before she asked, “You have everything else?”

Smiling, I said, “Yep, got it all.

Sarah could pretend she didn’t want to do this, but I knew she was as curious as I was.

The three of us made our way toward Midtown Park. I wanted to do it at the park since it was close to both Lucas’s job and the dig site, and I wasn’t sure where he would be during the time of the spell.

“I really hope no one knows what we’re doing.” Kristin glanced around while putting down the blanket.

Sarah scoffed. “Why? Because we live in a town where every other person practices magick?”

Kristin brought her hands to her hips. “People expect it from you two. They don’t expect it from me!”

I sat down next to Sarah, and we started to lay everything out.

“What’s the bowl for?” Kristin asked.

“To grind everything together. Will you pick that dandelion flower for me? But don’t do anything to it yet,” I stated.

Kristin leaned over and picked the flower. “This has to be the biggest dandelion I’ve ever seen.”

Sarah laughed. “It is! I’ve never seen one so big.”

After I had everything laid out, we sat in a circle.

I closed my eyes and thought of Lucas. When I opened my eyes, Kristin was glancing between me and Sarah.

“Was I supposed to be doing anything?”

I smiled and shook my head. With a deep breath, I asked, “Ready?”

“So ready!” Kristin said.

“I hope you know what you’re doing, Hollie,” Sarah whispered.

I started to hum in a low voice, and Kristin and Sarah joined in as we all held hands. I dropped Kristin’s hand and started the spell.

Pouring the moondust into the bowl, I said,“A bit of moondust, a must. A sprig of hair gotten on a dare.”

Kristin had managed to pull a few strands out of Lucas’s hair last night, much to his dislike.

“Add a pinch of sage spice to make everything nice.”
