“Sounds like a good way to accidentally knock me up,” I whispered back.

He chuckled, softly. “Wouldn’t break my heart.”

My lips curved upward slightly, and I admitted something quietly that I’d never said aloud. “I’d love to have a baby.”

He squeezed my breast lightly. “Maybe you should stop eating lilanos in the next few months.”

Maybe I should.

I drifted off to sleep with a mental image of Teris holding a tiny baby girl, and it was one I didn’t think I could ever forget.

Fifteen

Teris was right;two hours later, I woke up aching for a release. He growled about how perfect I was while I rode his cock, and then we went back to sleep.

An hour later, he woke me up with his fingers between my thighs and his cock thrusting in and out of me slowly. We fell back asleep again as soon as we were done—but he woke me up the same way another hour later.

By the time the morning came around, my body was so damn sated that I could barely think, let alone sleep.

Teris carried me to the bathroom and made love to me one last time in the shower, before we washed each other. When we finally made it out, someone was knocking on our door again.

Teris kissed me before climbing the ladder and opening that door.

“A host of dragons are on their way,” a male fae said solemnly. “They’ve got phoenixes flying with them, this time—and the phoenixes are carrying hellhounds in their talons.”

Shit.

“An army?” Teris asked, voice low.

Before the man could confirm it, I heard footsteps on the dirt as someone landed next to the guy. “I saw your creatures, in the distance. An hour away, at most,” Presley said. Her voice was breathy, like she was breathing fast.

“We’ll meet them long before they reach us,” Teris said. “How many dragons and phoenixes?”

“More than we can count,” the male fae admitted.

Shit.

Panic swelled in my chest.

“We’ll guide the creatures back to the battle after we’ve figured out how to lead them. Between us, them, and the klynnas, it should be an easy fight. How far is the army?” Teris asked.

“A little over an hour, at our best guess.”

“Plenty of time, then.” My mate’s voice was way calmer than it should’ve been. Maybe he wasn’t worried, but I sure as hell was. “Have the female fae called off their competitions so they can join the fight?”

“They have.”

“Good. Let everyone know that we’ll be coming with backup soon enough.”

The man didn’t protest, though I thought he sure as hell should’ve.

Teris climbed down the ladder and looked at me. “We’re going to be just fine, Nai. The goddess gave you the magic because she knew you were strong enough to control it.”

“She gave me the magic because she was too weak to connect with anyone else,” I shot back.

He crossed the room, taking my face between his hands and tilting it back so he was looking down at me, and I was looking up at him. I wanted to hate the contact, but I loved it. “She could’ve told you to send someone else. She could’ve asked you to bring someone else with you. She could’ve given up altogether, too. And yet she decided to give the magic to you, Nai. Because you are a damnQueen. Don’t forget it.”

I opened my mouth to protest, but he kissed me, then. Firmly, but gently.
