I hadn’t realized it at the time, but when she pulled me away from Earth, she had given meeverything.

The second chance I’d wished for.

The new life I’d wanted.

An incredible, magical world.

I’d kept my eyes shut to it for a long time, but now?

Now, I was never closing them again.

Figuratively, of course.

If not for the goddess, I had no idea where I’d be. And honestly, I didn’t even want to consider it.

Looking around the crowd, I saw shining eyes on women I knew well.

Women who would literally have died if not for Vevol, and were now thriving.

Women who had changed our world for the better—after having their lives changed, the same way.

We had all been broken.

We had all been suffering, in some way.

And the goddess had recognized our pain, and given us a way out.

“Thank you,”I whispered in my mind.

She wasn’t there to hear my thanks, but I’d say it anyway.

When I looked to my side, I found Teris, staring at me without a shred of shame.

“I love you,”I repeated to him, for the hundredth time in the last three days.

“I love you too.” He kissed me, and damn, I’d never get tired of having his lips on mine.

We released each other as Fovea began speaking again.

The music started to grow a little louder, and when I saw Summer and Vuvim off to the side, controlling it somehow, I smiled.

“Now, we celebrate our goddess the way she deserves,” Fovea declared. “With food, and drink, and dancing… and love!” She dragged Nev into her arms and pressed her lips to his.

The female fae and ex-humans roared their approval, the males joined them too.

My smile widened as the crowd dispersed and Teris towed me toward the newly-crafted dance floor. As we went, I saw Lian spinning a laughing January around smoothly, and Priel and North swaying in each other’s arms while they talked off to the side of everyone else. I saw Mare and Ervo, laughing as she tried to teach him a human slow dance I didn’t recognize.

And I saw Dakota and Aev, with her feet on top of his as he led her across the room.

My eyes lingered on them, and I waited for some sense of guilt.

But, it never came.

I just felt happy for them.

And happy for me;reallyhappy for me.

“Get over here,” Teris growled playfully, pulling me into his arms until our bodies were pressed together tightly. One of my hands lifted to his shoulder, and the other slipped into his. I’d taught him the only way I knew how to dance in the kitchen two days earlier, while I’d cooked for him. “You make me so damn happy, baby,” he murmured to me, as he brushed his lips over mine.
