He cheers and gets out of his seat, dropping his s’more to the little table between us to kiss me. I smile into the kiss, happiness flooding through me. I’ve got the man of my dreams a perfect little baby and another on the way.

Life can’t get any better.

“I love you so much. But there is no way that we’re naming the second baby Matt too,” Salvatore says, his smile stretching from ear to ear.

“We’ll figure out the perfect name together.” I run my hand along my stomach, excited for the day when the bump starts to show.

“Speaking of us,” Salvatore says as he picks up and finishes his s’more. “Last year I told you that I was going to marry you one day.”

“You know, I think I might remember that.” I pull my flaming marshmallow out of the fire and blow on the flames. “Chocolate and cookies please.”

Salvatore chuckles and passes me the food. “Here I am, trying to propose to you and you’re busy making a s’more.”

My breath leaves me for a second, but I recover quickly. I arch an eyebrow and assemble my s’more before taking a large bite. “I haven’t heard a question.”

As I finish my sandwich, he pulls a little black box and gets to one knee in front of me.

“Yes,” I say, grinning from ear to ear.

“But you just said… I thought you wanted me to ask the question,” Salvatore says, his tone teasing as he flips open the box to reveal a beautiful ring. It’s simple and classic; one stone on a white gold band.

“I do.”

“That comes at the wedding ceremony, Brielle. You really need to work on that patience.”

I laugh and shake my head. “Just ask me the damn question.”

“I loved you before I really even knew what it was to love another person with my entire being. You brought a new meaning to life for me. I don’t know where I would be without you and I don’t ever want to find out. Marry me, Brielle, and continue to be the person that breathes life back into my soul.”

“Yes!’

I launch myself at him, embracing him tightly as we fall backward into the grass. He laughs as I cup his face and kiss him, excitement flowing through me.

“Of course, I’ll marry you.” I kiss him again and get to my feet, reaching down to help him up.

“Good, because I bought the ring the day we bought the house. I don’t think it’s returnable.”

I’m laughing as he takes the ring out of the box and slides it on my finger.

“So,” he says as he sits down in his chair and pulls me into his lap with him. “Do you want to tell the family now or later?”

“Later,” I say as I loop my arms around his neck. “Right now, I want to enjoy this moment with you.”

He kisses my cheek as I pull out my phone. Salvatore puts on a big smile as I open the camera app and hold out the ring in front of our faces.

As I take the picture, I know that this is meant to be.
