“Damn, she's feisty,” a man said from the driver’s seat.

“I know. Now move. We have to get her to the warehouse on time, or Antonio and the contact from the Syndicate will have a conniption.” Miko grunted as I wriggled and got in another good shot with my knee.

“Damn it, Robin, I will spank your ass if you don’t stop. Trust me. I’m not the bad guy here. Well…” He chuckled. “...I am a bad guy, but not to you. Now please.”

I screamed behind his hand and doubled my efforts.

The man in the front sighed. “The tape and sedatives are in the pocket behind the seat.”

“Can’t you see I’m a little busy here?” Miko growled as he moved to kneel on my thighs, keeping my legs pinned down. He gathered both my wrists in one hand and pinned them above my head.

I couldn’t best an alpha who had probably a hundred pounds on me. Fucking bastard. I was going to get him for this. I can’t believe that I found him attractive before.

The driver grunted, and I turned to see him reaching into the seat pocket.

Miko grabbed one of the items, a syringe, and ripped the top off with his teeth. “I’m sorry, Angel. I know this isn’t ideal, but we must observe the Syndicate guidelines. I promise Cormac will make it all better soon.”

Who the fuck was Cormac? And what was the Syndicate?

My thoughts swirled as the needle pierced my upper arm. I cried out, trying again, in vain, to buck Miko off me.

Within seconds my vision went hazy, and all the fight left my body as the feeling in my limbs dissipated.

“Fuck you, Miko,” I slurred, barely managing to get the words out with my thick tongue.

“Sorry, baby girl.” He had the audacity to look remorseful as he trailed a hand down my face in a loving caress. “I promise we’ll more than make it up to you.”

I couldn’t even turn my head to move away from his touch.

Vertigo made everything around me spin as my vision grew dimmer and dimmer.

Miko and the driver whispered more about Antonio, and my drug-addled mind wondered if it wasmyAntonio. My first love; the alpha that changed my life.

But it couldn’t be.

Years ago, he vanished into thin air, leaving me with nothing.

I didn’t know if I wanted it to be him.

“Please.” The plea left my lips in a barely audible whisper. Tears slid from my eyes to fall freely down my cheeks.

As darkness pulled me under, I cursed myself for my weakness.

ALEXIS

Eighteen years old

“Tony?” I called out, turning the knob to his front door and finding it unlocked. What the hell? The door was never unlocked.

As trepidation pulsed through my blood, I slowly opened the door to peak inside.

Why hadn’t Antonio answered my texts today? Or yesterday? It wasn’t like him not to respond.

Especially on my birthday.

He’d been excited for me to turn eighteen finally. So was I.
