"Yes, Sir." She scurried away, almost running into another employee trying to get something out of the fridge.

My eyes narrowed as I watched her go to her cubicle and disappear from view. I turned to Miko, and from the discerning way he watched the omega, he thought the same thing I did. He quickly pulled his phone out of pocket, typing away at the screen as we entered the mainframe room.

Something about that woman made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

"Let us know if you need anything at all. Mr. Alexander, Ms. Turner." David nodded at us and shut the door behind him.

Miko regarded Luca and Roberto while I pulled my laptop from my bag and got to work. "Luca, start a—"

"Background check on the lovely Amelia?" Luca grinned. "Already on it."

"Something's up with her," Roberto remarked absently, talking to no one in particular.

I ignored their chatter, pulled up the code, and began scrolling through.

After two hours, I hadn't found much, but I was following one anomaly that stood out like a sore thumb.

"What do you have?" Miko looked over my shoulder, after seeking the look on my face.

"I'm not sure, but see this." I pointed to the lines where I spotted the difference. "It's weird, but that same signature is in some of the financial documents." I pulled up that area, showing the logs of who accessed the records. It didn't look like much out of the ordinary, but digging deeper, the names on the logs didn't match up to the user ID's.

"Keep going, Princess. I think you're onto it." He kissed my cheek and let me get back to work.

After sifting through log after log and page after page, I finally narrowed everything down to the exact time and dates the data was taken and what they were after.

"Miko," I began, my heart sinking as I started piecing together the puzzle. "Antonio is not going to like this."

His brow furrowed as I showed him exactly what I found. He cursed, immediately pulling out his phone and dialing Cormac. "Get down here. We need to get out of here and talk to Antonio immediately."

Amelia was the mole, and I was able to record the scrubbed logs of data that she pulled and then erased. But the main concern waswhatshe sent out.

All the transactions related to the money laundering ACM did for the Omega Syndicate.

Someone was trying to blackmail the Syndicate, and they were using ACM to do it.

ANTONIO

Igroaned and rubbed my thigh as an ache began to set in. Ronan pushed me hard today, but I still wanted to go further; to do more. I had to get up on my feet and fast before everything came to a fever pitch. I would not sit idly by while threats loomed over my mate and pack.

"You're progressing faster than any other patient I've worked with," Ronan began as he sat down in the chair beside me. He handed me a towel, and I wiped the sweat from my brow. "But you still have to give your body time to heal."

I'd been able to walk a short distance on the treadmill, although I wished it were more. I was tired of the “you have to let your body heal” shit. I wanted to be able to walk because if it came down to it, I would die to protect my mate. Although I'd rather stay alive and be able to see the day her belly swelled with my baby.

"I know that doesn't help." Ronan clasped my shoulder. He'd become a friend over the two weeks he'd been working with me. Despite my bitching, he was a good physical therapist, and I wouldn't have anyone else helping me through this.

"I feel like I can't protect my omega." I cursed my leg, and despite healing quickly, it wasn't fast enough for my liking.

Ronan snorted. "You have billions of dollars at your disposal. You can hire an army to protect her, Tony."

It was a different experience to have people call me Tony again. Only Alexis did in the past, but it was starting to catch on. I liked it. It made me feel more down to Earth like I wasn't the head of the Cavalori family and someone to be feared.

I never wanted my mate to fear me.

"What I'm saying is that it doesn't always have to be you who bears the world's weight." Ronan sighed and climbed to his feet. "Just think about that, okay? You've had that globe on your back for long enough. It's time to share the burden with those who want to help."

Before I could contemplate his sentiments, my phone rang. Seeing it was Miko, I answered and pressed it to my ear. "Tell me you have something."
