“Yes, well, I had no idea the child was yours.”

Remark’s eyes widened, and Ondine lunged for the dispatcher.

Torun grabbed the woman first and held her away from Ondine.

Remark was standing with his eyes wide, and Kaymex was on his com, getting security as he caught Ondine with his speed. He held her feet off the floor.

“Twenty murderers! She sent twenty fucking murderers to Amadine’s home in the mountains!” Ondine was screaming, and Lehhalla flinched and actually tried to hide behind Torun.

Remark murmured, “I am guessing they were unsuccessful?”

“Yeah. Amadine had her escort there. He took care of it. There was only one left when I came home.”

Remark coughed. “BDC escort?”

“Yup. Now, let me make her insides outsides.”

Remark sighed. “Was Amadine safe?”

“Yes. She said they had arrived by a portal.”

Kaymex whistled. “Those are pricey.”

Remark asked, “How long for the agents?”

“She’s human. Peacekeepers are coming.”

“Excellent.” Remark touched Lahhalla, and he closed his eyes. When he stepped back, he went to the window and recorded his findings.

Ondine looked at the woman, and she remained held off her feet until peacekeepers removed Lahhalla. Ondine sighed. “You can put me down, Kaymex.”

He chuckled. “I like you there.”

“Or I can break your kneecaps and forearms.”

He sighed. “Fine.” He set her on her feet.

“You would not have said that a day ago.” She faced him.

“You are right. Apologies. You are just so fucking cute.”

Ondine sighed. “Right. Well, it’s a good thing that most don’t know that Titan has acutecentre. It would hurt my street cred.”

Remark wandered over. “Now, you have a boyfriend?”

She rubbed her ear. “He is my baby’s father. My sister has been courting him for months. Sort of.”

Torun scowled down at her. “So, someone wants your child.”

Remark shook his head. “Someone wants Titan. They are just trying to use the baby to get to her.”

“Well, they have my attention. They will have my presence as soon as we track them. By my estimation, they have spent about twenty million in decoys, bribes, portals, and personnel.”

They had a quick discussion on a course of action, and Remark suggested, “Maybe you shouldn’t be on your own with your sister?”

“I am not. I am staying with friends. Good friends. They will take care of Amadine and the baby or die defending them.” She nodded. “That being said, I am going to head home. Any other discussions can be managed remotely.”

Torun smiled. “Can I have a hug?”
