They all laughed.
Geero asked, “I have to ask, what is stepping?”
Ondine smiled as the kids all tried to tell him at the same time. When they were done, she said calmly, “Dance duelling using shoes that make a solid sound. You have to have a sense of rhythm and a lot of determination.”
Amadine smiled. “Like tap dance, but you can use your activation if it helps out.”
Ondine smiled. “He can sit this one out and see if he wants to participate next time.”
Ondine’s com went off, as did Amadine’s, Clavia’s, and Yalida’s. “Well, this is weird.”
She checked the message and grinned. “Sariah’s back.”
Yalida laughed. “She asks if she can come by to say hi.”
The kids went wild.
Geero asked, “Who is Sariah?”
Ondine smiled. “She’s a friend who has been travelling. I am guessing she just arrived home.”
Amadine chortled and sent a message. “I am telling her that we are here.”
“Warn her about Geero.”
“Ah. Good idea.”
Geero muttered, “Why are you warning her?”
“Because she has had some rough experiences with adult men. She went on the trip to desensitize herself.”
“When you say rough experiences...”
“You know precisely what I mean.”
“Fuck.”
“Yeah. That is how Yalida knows her. They were both forced brides that were trotted out to make it look like Uradda had their actives under control.”
“What happened to her spouse?”
Yalida chuckled. “He was trampled under the feet of seven women after he was killed. It was tragic, really.”
Everyone at the table laughed.
Amadine smiled. “She’s on the way.”
Clavia paused. “Where is she going to stay?”
Yalida blinked. “Shit.”
Amadine chuckled innocently. “She can stay in Ondine’s bed, and Ondine can spend the night at Geero’s.”
“Or... Geero and I can go over to the new property. I can make us a place to spend the night.”
Geero smiled. “I can help.”
Ondine looked at him, and then she covered her mouth. “I don’t think your outfit is going to survive the night.”
