He shifts his weight and takes a step back from me. “I’ll go get you that drink.”

“Wait a second.” I grab his forearm and stop him from leaving me on the line like that. “That’s not how this works. I get that you’re trying to look out for your best friend, but I need to look out for me.”

“Allegations come like this all the time,” he counters simply. “He’s a boxer that’s around a lot of women and temptation.”

My brows furrow. “That doesn’t answer my question.”

“You ask him—”

“I’m asking you. You wanted to hook me up with him so bad. And you think that I wasn’t going to do my research on the man that’s loaded and possibly has a past?”

“Odin isn’t that kind of man.”

“What kind?” I press. “Because he doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve and I’m not looking to get involved to the point where I’m going to lose my job.”

“Molly—”

“Are you upsetting my nanny, Myles?” Kai’s voice cuts right into what his best friend was about to divulge to me, but it really doesn’t matter.

There is nous.

Not going to happen while I’m living under this roof and I have a job to watch his children.

“He’s not,” I answer for him, steering my focus away from Myles and fixing it on the man who has his heart under lock and key. “I was just heading upstairs. I’m tired.”

“You’ve been down here for forty minutes.”

Has it been that long already?

I feel as though I’ve been down here forever with the mental turmoil that Myles has been trying to put my head through.

“What can I say?” I give a dismissive shrug. “It’s been a long day and partying really isn’t my thing anymore.”

Kai opens his mouth, but the brunette from earlier shows up at his side, clutching at his tatted bicep again. “Odin, you said you’d show me to your room.”

I halt the snort that wants to escape my body because he’s right. Kai fucks, he doesn’t date.

And that works perfectly for me, because neither do I at the current moment.

“Upstairs to the right,” I say simply, stealing a glance at her. She’s gorgeously put together and someone who appears to be anyone’s type. “Have fun.”

Barreling through the two men, I amble back toward the house and get back upstairs.

Grabbing a bottle of whiskey on my way up so that I can find the motivation to wipe this clean out of my mind.

Kai was a wild night.

One that I won’t be easily forgetting.

But I’m not going to be an option.

And he certainly isn’t looking for just one.

KAI

I’mnotafanof how she left and took a whole bottle of alcohol with her, but I let her go.
