Myles claims that he wasn’t disrespectful toward her, but he upset her in some capacity because she split from me as quickly as she could and didn’t look back while doing it.

It’s for the best.

However, it doesn’t stop me from striding toward her room while I have a full-blown party happening downstairs. Or dodging the brunette who won’t fuck off already.

I’m not interested in anyone downstairs, like I said earlier, yet the temptation that looms and lingers over my head every day showed her face tonight and I can’t say that her being so close to Myles didn’t piss me off.

If she’s going to fuck someone, I don’t want to know the person. I especially don’t want it to be an individual who I consider a brother and who would probably want to tell me all about it.

Then I’d have to kill him, and I’ve already made enough headlines in my life to easily pass on that.

Lightly knocking on her door, I wait a few seconds before it opens, first showing a little sliver of Molly before extending and giving me full access to her body.

Literallyhalf-naked with a black crop top and gray shorts hugging her waist.

“Do you not get dressed to open the door for people?” I leer. What if it wasn’t me, but Myles who just came looking to see if she was alright?

This is so fucking stupid, Kai. What are you doing?

“Iamdressed.” Her green eyes don’t stray from mine and I feel more of an idiot than I did two seconds ago because she’s an adult, not a child. “What can I do for you, Kai? Because if I wanted to be bothered I would’ve stayed downstairs. Me coming up here was to get away from it.”

“What did Myles say that got you upset?”

“Nothing.” She props her hand on her hip. “Shouldn’t you be on the opposite side of the hallway?”

“Thanks for that, by the way. Now the crazy bitch knows where my room is located.”

“I thought that was the plan.”

I glower at her. “You don’tknowmy plans. So don’t try to help me next time. I know my way around my own house.”

Molly immediately shuts down.

I can see it in the frown she’s sporting that she might be seconds away from slamming the door in my face again.

“Anything else?” She says it so matter-of-factly that it only hints that I’m right.

Molly isn’t going to stand here and take my shit when my daughters aren’t here—period. She’s not on the clock and didn’t need to be downstairs at my party, but she went with the flow.

And now I’m harassing her for information that really doesn’t matter at the end of the day.

“Yes,” I counter as calmly as I can. “What did Myles say?”

“I just told you—nothing,” she clips out. “And I don’t need to be checked up on, like you just said, you don’t need help with a road map to your house.”

Touché.

And before I can open my mouth again, the lights to the whole house go out.

Blew a fuse.

It used to be such a common occurrence when I’d throw gatherings like this all the time, especially when Olivia and I broke up, that the thought just immediately clicks in my brain.

And so does making a move.

Reaching for Molly through the blackness of the room, I find her hip and yank her toward me.

My fingers lace through her hair, tilting her head up before my mouth slams into hers.
