Ellie: No sex talk, scout’s honor

Serenity: Now, I didn’t say that, just Ezra is off limits.

Ellie: Noted

Serenity: I’ll keep it to myself

At least my sister wasn’t in our group chat yet. That would be a disaster. She couldn’t keep a secret to save her own life. Micah would know, then he’d be here making me talk. I didn’t need that.

Ellie: I’m late. And I just got a voicemail from my doctor… I let my birth control expire A MONTH AGO

Kat: I’m sensing some panic. Breathe, Ellie.

Serenity: Oof, better you than me. Are you okay? Do we need chocolate, tacos, what does this occasion require?

Ellie: I’m going to go get a test. I’d come to you guys but Walter being there isn’t my idea of a good time.

Serenity: Solid choice. Keep us updated. Dude, Ezra is going to flip.

Kat: Aw, Daddy Ez

Serenity: I’ll kill you and you’re right next to me. Watch yourself.

Kat: Simmer down. I’ll buy you a margarita after work.

Ellie: Guys. I can’t be a mom.

Kat: You can if you’re pregnant. That’s how it works. No one is ever really prepared for that shit. But you’re not alone here. You’ve got family, us, a pack. You’re golden.

Ellie: Thanks. I’ll keep you updated.

Serenity: If you’re not, margaritas tonight. Drink away the panic. If you are, tacos tonight if you want in.

A soft knock on my door had me attempting to clear the panic from my face. I doubted it would work but the last thing I was going to do was explain that to the guys.

“Come in.”

Bear poked his head in, giving me a smile. “I’m heading to the pharmacy, you need anything or want to tag along?”

“I’ll come,” I said, a bit too eagerly. He narrowed his eyes as he studied my face.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, just don’t want you going alone,” I lied quickly. “Give me five.”

“Sure,” he said, still suspicious but he backed out of the room anyway. I took the opportunity to change out of my sweats that had holes in them and grabbed my purse.

There would be no fucking way I could buy it without him seeing, but I knew Bear wouldn’t go running to the others.

We were in Bear’s SUV heading through town when he pulled over and focused his eyes on me.

“Ellie. What’s wrong?”

“What do you mean?” I blinked at him innocently as if that would hide it. He rolled his eyes and put his hand on my knee that I hadn’t even realized I’d been bouncing.

“You’re like a chihuahua when its owner has a treat. What’s wrong?” He waited for me to explain but I couldn’t find the words. Instead of being frustrated, he looked defeated. “Want me to call one of your pack?”

“You are pack,” I said. “I got a call from my pharmacist about birth control and realized it ran out and I didn’t notice and I’ve not had a period since I went into heat last and I might be pregnant and I’m freaking out about it.” It was a jumble of words falling out in a ramble as I started to panic.
