“Oh, can we go to the first appointment?” Atlas asked.

“Of course,” I said as I sat back, stunned. This was not the reaction I expected, yet here they were proving, yet again, I’d found the best pack.

“We can do a huge baby shower to celebrate the baby. Candace can’t ruin everything,” Tori promised. “It will be town wide if I know Lockwood.”

“You know it,” Grant grinned. “I’ll make sure of it.”

“Well, good thing we already had a celebration going, too bad we had no… baby back ribs,” Micah said, laughing at his own joke.

“Wow,” I said, shaking my head. “You’re taking uncle puns to a whole new level.”

“Just wait, I’m only warming up,” he said, far too proud of himself.

We’d all finished by then and I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. They’d all taken it well but we hadn’t talked about a single thing yet.

As if he could sense the need for us to have alone time, Grant spoke up.

“Why don’t you let me, Micah, and Tori handle the cleanup. You should head home and process all this,” he said.

“Thanks, Dad,” Dean said, standing up and giving his dad a hug before throwing his plate away.

Grant held out his arms for a hug and I didn’t hesitate to let him wrap me in his embrace.

“Thanks, kid. I’ve always wanted this,” he whispered. “You’re going to be great parents. Don’t let this moment ruin it.”

“I won’t,” I promised. “See ya later, Gramps.”

He let out a booming laugh at that and waved us out. Atlas hopped in the car with me since everyone else had driven separately outside of Bear and Collin.

“Didn’t want you driving alone,” he explained. “How are you feeling? Any symptoms yet?”

“No. I just found out. I’m thinking I’m not that far along yet. Maybe just over a month or so since we shared that heat,” I said. “I’m sure it’s coming.”

“You have us to lean on, we’ll make things work. At least Walter’s got plenty of coverage in case you have rough mornings,” Dean said.

“No one wants their coffee accompanied by the sounds of a gagging omega,” I joked. “It might be starting, my stomach has been rolling with nerves all night. Maybe it’s not all worry.”

“What sent you over here? Other than a delivery?” Dean asked.

“Does everyone know I escape here when I need to not stress?” I groaned. “Grant asked me the same exact question.”

“Yes,” he said simply. “Now spill, woman.”

“Candace called about the reunion episode. She knew about the pregnancy already. If it wasn’t reporters in town, it had to be one of the Forrest Pack. Part of me panicked, thinking it was Bear, but I couldn’t quite make myself believe he’d betray me like that.”

“He wouldn’t,” Dean said with confidence. “He’s already pack. There’s no way.”

“I agree. But at the time, I was freaking out and outside of Serenity and Kat, no one else knew. He just happened to walk in while I was panicking and we went to the pharmacy together.”

“That makes sense,” Dean reassured me. “I’m really happy, Ellie. This is going to be amazing.”

“If we have a packhouse in time,” I said. “We have no space for a nursery.”

“Don’t worry, Bear coming in to help has been a game changer.” He’d kept fairly quiet about the house lately and I wondered just how far it had come.

“Really?” I asked. “I figured Collin was just using that as an excuse to keep him out of Trevor and Jacob’s path.”

“You’re probably right, at first at least. Collin’s protective and you had all of us. But now they’re making real progress,” he admitted.
