“Wait, what? Weren’t you guys finishing up something in the kitchen? And some random issue with the laundry plumbing?” I asked, confused. We’d discussed it just the morning before.

“Apparently, Ezra is a genius with plumbing. We got both wrapped up a lot faster than I anticipated. That was literally the last step. We’ve done all the painting, the floors are all laid, even the artwork is now hung.”

Neither Ellie or Bear had seen this place in weeks. After we brought Bear back from the hospital he spent the next few weeks recovering. It wasn’t easy and Ellie was by his side the entire time thanks to Walter giving her time off from the coffee shop.

It was sweet how she dedicated herself to helping him do his physical therapy exercises and making sure he took his medication on time.

We all made sure they had food and anything else they needed. Despite it being such a terrible situation, it brought us a lot closer as a pack.

It was also a distraction to keep Ezra and Collin from hunting down the Forrest Pack. Thankfully, the judge denied them bail after such an outright attack and trying to run the moment they were stopped. That alone gave proof they were a flight risk.

The trial wasn’t for a few months yet, but Bear had already been in contact with the sheriff’s department and a lawyer. He was pressing charges to the full extent he could and filing restraining orders against both of them and Morgan for good measure.

Ellie’s parents and Morgan were still hanging around town. They clearly dropped every obligation in their lives to continue to taunt us. Too bad for them it was a wasted effort seeing as how Ellie never left the house.

Though, I was fairly certain Micah and Tori were ready to kill them all.

We wouldn’t have dragged Bear out in public with all of his swelling and bruising. Sure, all of Lockwood knew what happened, but we weren’t risking the barrage of questions.

Not yet at least.

The bruising was a lot better but he was still covered in a green and yellow hue as they healed. His cast was taken off a few days ago so other than a limp he was almost back to normal. Or a new normal at the very least.

“Meet me downstairs when you’re ready,” Collin said. “It’s time to show our omegas their new home.”

Ouromegas.

Bear may have only been romantically with Collin and Ellie, but at this point, he was all of our omega. We loved him like a brother and after the attack, were just as protective as any pack would be.

Dean and I finished fixing the blankets and tidying everything up, making sure it all looked amazing. I took a deep breath, the scent of ocean breeze and fresh air from the open window filling the air. It was the most neutral scent we could find for the wax warmers that wouldn’t clash with our own scents, adding an extra calmness to the room.

“I’m fucking proud of us,” Dean said, holding out his fist for me to bump. “I’m glad we worked shit out between ourselves. This life wouldn’t have been as perfect if we were still at each other’s throats.”

“Definitely,” I said as I tapped my fist against his. “Let’s go get our omegas.”

We made our way downstairs and through the main bedroom. Apparently, the others had been just as busy. The bed was now made with a full rainbow of throw pillows arranged on top. You know love was involved when an alpha took this much time to arrange decorative pillows.

The only thing left empty was the walk-in closet. That would change the moment we all moved in.

Over the last few months, we tried to keep the progress away from Ellie. She offered to help but we found any excuse we could to distract her. This was going to be a surprise, even if she had helped pick out some furniture and designs.

Now, after months of work, we were finally done. It felt like the last few months both flew by and dragged on forever. It was exhausting trying to manage a full-time job, working on the house any time we could, and keeping our pack together.

Ezra was coming in the front door at the same time we entered the living room. He let out a whistle as he looked around. “It looks good in here, whoever hung up those shelves did a great job,” he praised. “This place really came together.”

“It did. And now it’s time to go get our omegas,” Collin told him. “Atlas and Dean just finished up the nest.”

Ezra’s small smile widened. He didn’t say another word as he turned on his heel and with an extra pep in his step he walked back out the way he came. We piled into Dean’s SUV and headed for our soon to be former packhouse.

Laughter echoed out of the kitchen when we walked in the front door. We didn’t call out to them. I was far too curious to see what was going on. The moment we rounded the corner I couldn’t help but join in.

A cloud of flour was hanging in the air, both omegas were covered in the white powder. There were definitely more ingredients on them than in the bowl.

“What on earth are you two doing?” Dean asked.

Ellie looked at us sheepishly, giving a little shrug before wiping uselessly at her clothes. The powder puffed out of the fabric but it did little to clear the flour away.

“Nothing. We were just making some cookies,” she said before they both started cracking up again. It was such a relief to see them laughing and having fun. The attack didn’t just affect Bear, though he had it the worst. Ellie struggled too, she had been in a quiet and somber mood since the incident.
