Isaac was huge. He had to be over six foot tall and had the bulk and muscles to match his frame. He could easily break me in the best ways.

As if he could read my thoughts a smirk took over the alpha’s face. His blue eyes pierced right through me and when his tongue darted out, licking over a lip ring, I nearly dropped to my knees for him in the middle of the store. What omega could resist a dark-haired, blue eyed, viking of an alpha?!

Down, girl.

I looked for anything to distract myself before I did something embarrassing.

My eyes landed on the tattoos covering his arms and neck and I nearly complimented his ink when I realized what he’d said about his beta’s name.

“Why did you go by Rob?” My filter was completely gone at this point and the guy let out a startled chuckle. He was adorably awkward. His long brown hair hung around his shoulders, a slight wave to it, and his smile was wide and eager.

“Forward, I like it. It’s a shitty nod to my middle name but she hated my first name so she forced me to change it or threatened to kick us off,” he explained. His blue-green eyes scanned over me, as if he were committing me to memory.

“Well, she’s a bitch,” I said with a shrug. "I'm not all that shocked."

That had all three of them cracking up and I wasn’t surprised no one bothered to defend Candace. The lady lived and breathed the network, which meant she wasn't afraid to be a viper.

Isaac stepped forward as if he were going to clap me on the shoulder but his hand froze midair as we caught each other’s scents. Cherry and almond filled my senses, sweet and rich, making my mouth water. My eyes met his and my chest tightened.

He looked downright hopeful. The universe was a cruel thing to give this man a mate who had major commitment issues.

“Look, I…” There were no real words I could say to this situation. No matter how I looked at it I was collecting mates yet still running from the issue.

Telling the girls I was ready to date and being mass introduced to a whole football team of mates was a completely different story.

“What’s wrong, alpha?” Colt and Oaks both moved to his side, freezing again as they realized why.

I already knew Oaks was my mate though he must not have gotten a hint of my scent yet. Colt raised his eyebrows, a hand braced on the shelf next to him.

“Mates.” Colt said the word cautiously, especially as he watched me ready to run like a rabbit with a fox on her tail.

Colt was a beta who spent plenty of time working out. His muscles bulged against the tee he was wearing, stretching it to its limits. Colorful ink coated his arms just like his alpha. I could almost picture us getting tattoos together in the future for a moment before I reined in the crazy.

Colt ran a hand through his dirty blond hair. He had it shaved on the sides and the top was long enough he could run his hands through it, pushing it back. Even with him nervously messing with it, the strands stayed perfectly in place.

The beard on his face was cut low and I could almost feel the beard burn it would give me. I squeezed my thighs together as I tried to play it cool.

Ellie was right again, meeting my mates had me feeling like a crazy woman, ready to give in and not look back.

“Don’t go,” he pleaded as he grabbed my wrist. His green eyes were earnest and guilt bubbled up inside of me. “Let’s talk it out.”

“Not here,” I said finally. His hand was still wrapped around mine and I took my arm back so I could breathe and think rationally. “Later. I work at Raven’s Nest, you can find me there this afternoon.”

Talking to them on my own terms, in my own safe space, was the only way I would make it through this.

Shockingly, there were no protests as I hurried away as quickly as possible.

I made it through self-checkout with introverted speed, refusing to talk to anyone else today.

The door slid open as I approached and I let out a defeated groan at the sight of my new mate on the other side.

“Hey,” Silas greeted with a smile. “This is my brother Amos and our friend Jackson. I wa…” I cut him off before he could say anything else.

“Nope,” I told him as I tried to walk past but the man standing with him stepped in front of me, stopping me.

“We need to talk.” His gray eyes met mine, a fierce determination in them that had me bristling, ready for a fight. He pushed his glasses back in place as he stared me down.

Even worse, his scent was strong like the others, marking yet another fucking mate. Citrus and pineapple, it reminded me of a tropical drink and I vowed never to fucking order a tropical cocktail again in my life.
