“Join the club, asshole,” I growled. “Meet the rest of the party at Raven’s nest this afternoon if you want any fucking answers. Otherwise, feel free to skip town.”

“What?” He fumbled over the word, shock and disbelief filling his face but Silas who’d already met me once just chuckled. Another man stood with them but I didn’t have the capacity to see if we were mates, too.

“I told you she’s a force to be reckoned with,” Silas told his brother, at least I thought it was his brother. They shared more than a few similarities. “Come on, we’ll see her this afternoon.”

I practically ran the rest of the way home, anything to avoid talking to one more fucking person. At this rate, half the town would be my mate by sundown.

“Great fucking joke, universe. Take the girl who ran from the idea of mates for years and give her all the fucking mates you can find.”

Thankfully no one answered me. No fairy godmother delivering mates and no hallucinations to make me realize I was truly insane.

I wasn’t sure if that was a good sign or not.

A loud knock on my door had me dropping the bag I was holding, sending groceries sprawling on the floor.

The jingle of keys was followed by my door opening, a wild-eyed Ezra on the other side, Bear trailing in behind him.

They both let out a huff of relief at the sight of me and Bear immediately started helping me pick up the mess.

“What’s going on?” Ezra asked. His voice was oddly quiet. “You’re a hot mess right now. Was it the encounter with Silas?”

“Among other things,” I admitted before launching into an explanation of my morning and the insanity that was grocery shopping.

Ezra sat down heavily on the stool, eyes wide.

“Don’t you dare run from this, Serenity.”

“Wait, you’re telling me to give all of them a chance? You do realize that there arefiveSulley pack members, right? That’s not even including Silas, his brother who is also my mate, and their best friend who likely is too.”

He let out a low whistle.

“At least not without giving them a chance,” he countered. “They deserve to know why you’re so standoffish, and maybe they’ll be understanding.”

“But Evrin’s brother?” I said, giving him a look. “If that doesn’t scream complicated, I don’t know what does.”

“You’ve never been one for simple. Maybe that’s why you and Evrin got along, he was your mate’s brother,” Ezra said. He tried to hide his laughter but eventually burst out into a full belly laugh at my expense.

“You’re such a dick,” I groaned.

“They’re your mates, it’ll work out,” Bear said confidently. “You just have to give them a chance.

“Well, they’ll all be waiting for me at Raven’s Nest this afternoon,” I said, a smile spreading across my face as Ezra’s jaw dropped.

"You didn’t,” he accused.

“Didn’t what?” Bear asked, not following his train of thought.

“She sent them to the coffee shop where Walter will be. He’ll eat those guys alive while they wait for her."

Bear laughed and gave me a fist bump.

"I mean, that's kind of genius. It's neutral ground to a point, if they get out of line, you have built in backup, and they'll know all at once who all is trying to pack you up," Bear summarized. "What could go wrong?"

Two hours later, as I stared at eight men standing in front of me, I knew the answer to Bear's question.

Everythingcould go wrong.

"This was a mistake," I said, shaking my head and backing away.
