“My parents aren’t afraid to stick their noses where they don’t belong,” I said. “At least they made you sandwiches. Poor Silas got interrogated and nearly beat up for stalking me.”

“I’ll take this as a definite win, then,” Sawyer said, raising his own sandwich and taking a bite.

This pack seemed to take everything in stride. It was a contrast to the others and I couldn’t help but worry how the two packs would collide.

Serenity was undoubtedly the most interesting omega I’d ever met. She was blunt and fiery but still, I could see the vulnerable hurt omega hiding underneath.

That and she smelled delicious. The sweet and tart scent of mixed berries. The moment I met her and breathed it in I couldn’t get her out of my head.

She was gorgeous. Her intricate tattoo work, raspy voice, and dark black hair was everything I could have wanted.

“I’m going in,” she finally announced, standing and pulling her shirt off. Oaks cursed under his breath as she exposed even more creamy skin covered in tattoos. She didn’t turn back to face us as she kicked off her shorts and walked to the lake.

“She has no clue how sexy she is,” Colt said with a dark chuckle. Every one of our eyes were focused on her as if we couldn't tear our gazes away. One look at our mate and I knew I wanted her, but every moment we spent together I found myself tangling deeper and deeper into her web.

“Oh, she does,” I said as I watched our siren dive under the water. “She knows but she doesn’t care.”

"We'll be fighting off other packs," Oaks said. His voice was barely a whisper, too enraptured to speak normally.

“How about the other pack?” Vince said with a sigh. “It’s not just us and Serenity.”

“I’m not happy about their alpha,” Isaac said. “Or the fact they’re tied to her ex that traumatized her.”

“He won’t ever get close to her again,” I promised.

“No need to go killing her ex,” Oaks noted with a laugh. “Hey, Serenity, are you going to let me cook you dinner?” She turned around to face us as she wiped the water out of her face.

“Does it involve queso and booze?” she called back. Now that she’d taken a swim and we talked, she seemed much more relaxed. She had an easy smile on her face and it made her even more gorgeous. The sun was beaming down on her like even it couldn't resist her draw.

“It can,” I said with a chuckle. “I’m heading to the store, who’s coming?”

“Not me,” Serenity said as she swam back to the shore. “The last time I went I walked out with five new mates.”

“No more stores for you,” Isaac growled, earning a laugh from her. "We already have to share you with the others."

“We all know there’s no stopping our girl from doing anything she wants,” Vince said. She gave him a wink.

“Damn right. I’m too independent for that,” she said as she put her clothes on over her swimsuit and sat on the ground in her spot. “Just so you know my family will demand our presence soon. I’ll hold them off until we’ve gotten to know each other a bit more, but that’s about all I’ll be able to do.”

“Damn, already meeting the parents,” Colt joked. “Should I be worried?”

“Yes, they’re insane,” she said without missing a beat. “Though they might murder Evrin if he shows his face.”

“Is that why you’re so independent?” I could have smacked Vince for the question but he was never one to hold himself back either. They’d be an interesting mix.

“Probably. I had to learn to rely on myself and only myself until I came home. Mom says I came back a different person,” she admitted quietly.

“Do you have feelings for him still?” This time, I was glad Vince asked the question we all wondered.

“Fuck no,” she laughed, shaking her head. “Sometimes I miss who I was before he fucked me over, but no he can fuck off.”

Isaac’s phone rang and he tensed immediately, something that didn’t go unnoticed by Serenity. She glanced at him, then us, eyebrow raised as he answered.

“This is Isaac,” he answered in a formal tone that was unlike the alpha we knew.

He listened for several moments but as soon as the booming voice echoed out we knew it was his father.
