"Alright, you called a meeting for a reason," Kat said. "So, spill."

"Well, you guys already know that I somehow landed myself eight fucking mates," I said.

Bear snorted. "I certainly hope they fuck." We all cracked up at that and it made it a bit easier to spill the details.

"Yeah, I think he fits right into omega nights," Kat said, tossing a chip at him. He picked it off the table and popped it in his mouth, looking pleased.

When they were focused on me again, I gave a quick recap of the last few days.

"It's hard, one pack is gone and I'm getting closer to the other, but we're supposed to be one big, happy pack."

"We had some trouble at first," Bear said. He had come from a pack that rejected her on live television. The other guys she found as she was healing didn't love that he was pack, but it didn't take long for them all to accept him. He was too good for that asshole pack anyway.

"Isaac made a joke the other night about how he didn't want it to feel like divorced parents tossing me back and forth between them. Right now, it feels like that. The others come back tonight but I'm almost scared to have them here. It's going to change everything."

"You don't like them as much?" Kat asked. Leave it to my bestie to be blunt and ask the hard questions. She popped a chip in her mouth and chewed thoughtfully. "Well, I guess you haven't exactly had the chance to get to know them at all."

"That's the problem," I agreed. "I've spent no time with them. Just phone calls and texts so far."

"What you need is a huge pack date. Everyone all in one place. See how they interact with each other and make sure there's no jealousy or alphas butting heads. Who knows, they may all fit in together."

"If we go in public, it's going to be strange and awkward and it's just not going to go well."

"We can throw a party at our place," Ellie offered. "There's still other people there but it'd be a whole lot less than a restaurant or something. We could do a bonfire in the backyard or something."

"Your parents have a huge backyard and pool. Your dad loves to cook," Kat pointed out.

"Ezra just told me today that Dad has been talking about getting us together. I only think he's waited this long because he knows I'm having a mental breakdown over it. It didn't stop him from inviting them fishing when he knew I was hiding out at the lake, though," I deadpanned. "He conveniently left before the Sulley Pack arrived."

They laughed at his antics and I couldn't blame them. It was a good plan on his part.

"Your dad is kind of a savage. He doesn't let you run away from anything," Ellie said. They loved hanging out with my parents as much as I did.

"You know nothing's a rush, right?" Bear asked, serious now. "I rushed into my first pack and look what happened." His eyes darkened for a moment like he was remembering how his former pack had beaten him in response to him moving on and leaving them behind.

"I'm usually an ‘all in’ kind of girl, but you're right, this time, I've taken it slow. It feels different."

"No matter what, even if you guys are one pack, there will always be that little bit of division. Each pack has history," Ellie said. She was trying to say it nicely but it was a reality. "It's likely that when you do group dates it'll sometimes be with all of you, sometimes with one pack and then the other later. It doesn't change anything. There's no manual to all of this, you just do what feels right. It'll never make you less of a pack, though."

"What feels right is eating tacos and pretending that this isn't a problem until tomorrow," I said, ready to let the subject drop. I'd talked to Ezra about it this morning and now I'm talking to them. I got everything off my chest and then some, what I needed now was some normalcy and a solid distraction.

Even as we switched to lighter topics, I couldn't shake the feeling that tomorrow was looming over me. Our next meeting was going to be a ‘make it or break it’ kind of thing.

Honestly, I had no idea which way it would go.

“I’m going for a walk,” I announced to the others as I headed for the door. They were used to my need for solitude and thankfully never offered to come anymore.

Once I hit the sidewalk, I lit up a cigarette and took a drag, letting it settle my anxiety. Every time Isaac had a call with his dad it brought up old anger and hurt.

As far as the guys knew, I was the one who cut contact with my family, but the truth was they cut contact with me just as easily. There was no fight, no protests, not a single word when I said I was done. There were barely any hard feelings on their part. I was just another replaceable pawn in their lives.

My fingers tapped at my leg while the other hand held the cigarette. The night air held just enough of a breeze to feel amazing. A few minutes of this and I'd be right as rain.

Normally, I'd go fuck it out, find a random omega willing for a one night stand and take it from there.
