“What?” I stammer.

“My water broke,” she forces a smile.

“Holy shit.”

“You can’t leave me.” Her lip starts to quiver.

“I won’t.” I pull her close to me and curse as she holds onto my chest, her face contorting in pain.

“I’m going out,” Ringer says matter-of-factly. “Whatever the fuck is going on is obviously something against me. Let me go.”

Ghost nods while Bones shakes his head.

“I’ll go too,” Bull adds. Cracking his knuckles as they head in the direction of Ghost’s office.

I’m torn between wanting to go with my brothers and staying with Pebbles to make sure she’s okay.

“We’ve got this. You take care of her,” Tank nods towards Pebbles and the women.

Wes and Levi take post at each door while I gather the women and lead them towards the couches and away from any entrance to the clubhouse. Since we caught the fire in the kitchen early, the rest of the clubhouse is safe.

There’s way too many fucking people in here if you ask me. I school my features but inside I’m freaking the fuck out. Pebbles’s water broke. What the fuck happens if we can’t get her out of here and to the hospital before the babies decide it’s time to come?

“Holy fuck,” Pebbles groans, grabbing onto her belly as her face contorts in pain.

“Shit,” I mumble. “You gotta breathe, babe.”

Pebbles turns a glare on me. “Iamfucking breathing!”

Maria stifles a laugh, settles down next to Pebbles, and rubs her back in support. I’ve instantly forgot every fucking thing that those stupid pregnancy books tell you to do in these moments. I push off the couch and start to pace.

I’m on edge as there are so many people just fucking standing around with scared looks on their faces. I know it’s warranted, but what the fuck are half of these people even doing here? I’m blaming Ghost and his need to throw the best parties for inviting the entire fucking town. Look where that got us! Shit goes down and everyone scrambles.

I squat down in front of a calm faced Pebbles and take her hands in mine. “What can I do for you, babe?”

She looks up and my gaze settles on her calm, honey eyes. “Find out what the hell is going on and get… me… to… a… hospital!”

If this situation wasn’t already rattling every bone in my body, her tone would scare the fuck out of me. I push back to my feet and turn toward the hallway. Just as I’m about to head back there, Tank, Ghost, Bones and the rest of the guys, minus Ringer and Bull, all come jogging out.

“What’s going on?” I ask Ghost, who’s the first to stop in front of me.

“We got them out the window but couldn’t see shit. All the outdoor lighting was cut,” Ghost curses.

“So now what?” I throw my hands up. I can feel myself starting to lose my shit.

“We’re going to give them ten more minutes, then Tiny’s going to blow out the front door.”

“That sounds fucking dangerous,” I say, side-eyeing a grinning Tiny.

“We’ll have to figure out how to get all of these people out of the crossfire, but I’m not leaving my brother out there much longer,” Ghost declares.

The chatter of the party goes up to a deafening level, and I can no longer even hear Ghost who is standing right in front of me.

“Everyone, shut up!” Heads whip in the direction of Maria, who yells from her spot, standing atop the couch.

My eyes find Pebbles, and I exhale in relief at the sight. She is resting with her eyes closed as she holds her belly. I’ll take it as a good sign that she isn’t doubled over in pain. Maria’s yelling does the trick and the talking quiets quickly, becoming so low that I can hear Ghost’s phone ringing from the pocket of his costume.

“Talk to me. Mhm. Ok.” Ghost shoves his phone back in his pocket and then turns to us. “Get everyone the fuck out of the way.”
