Why should her business be tied to who she was dating?

Were people asking Tim Cook, Elon Musk, or Mark Zuckerberg to market their companies by playing up their relationships with their significant others? Were the deals Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and 50Cent signed contingent on the contributions of their wives or girlfriends?

As much as Dani loved Jameson, things were still new for themand she didn’t know what the future held. What if she changed her mind? Or he changed his? What if he decided he couldn’t be with someone as high profile as she was? If people felt positively about Mela-Skin and purchased the products because they bought into the fairy tale, who would they blame if the fantasy ended? Would her company bear the brunt of that disappointment? How would that affect its value? Her brand? Would she lose everything she’d worked so hard to build? Because of a failed relationship?

It was unfair to ask that of her.

But if she didn’t find a way to involve Jameson in the marketing, Genesis could keep Mela-Skin hindered by legal proceedings for the foreseeable future.

What should she do?

“We’re going to have the attorneys look at everything, Bennie,” Andrea said.

“Good. And if you could loop me in on those discussions, I’d appreciate it. Now, I’m not trying to get involved in your business,” Bennie said, “but it occurs to me that neither side benefits from drawing this out, right?”

“That’s true,” Andrea said, her tone cautious. She met Dani’s gaze across the table and raised her brows.

“And it’s the publicity Parcellum wants to capitalize on?” Bennie asked.

“Yes.”

Bennie shifted her blue-eyed laser-focused gaze to Dani.

“Then let’s give it to them.”

Say what now?

During the past several months, Bennie had worked hard at earning Dani’s trust. In fact, the only reason Dani even found out about her invitation to perform at the royal tribute concert wasbecause Bennie had brought it to her attention after Cash had declined on her behalf.

Without her consent.

Still, what part of the previous five minutes had her agent missed?

“Dani?” Bennie called her name as if it weren’t the first time she’d tried to get her attention. “When are you heading back to London?”

“Next week.”

“And how long are you staying?”

“About a week. I wish it was longer, but I thought I’d have my hands full with Mela-Skin and Genesis business.”

“Well, now you don’t, so you should extend your visit. I can work with Tasha to shift your schedule around because—”

“Wait a minute!” Dani pushed forward in her chair. “How does staying in the U.K. longer solve this problem with Genesis and Jay? He won’t want to do it and I can’t ask him. I shouldn’t have to.”

“The two of you just being together will generate publicity.”

“But—”

“Look, I agree with you that formally involving Prince Jameson in the marketing for Mela-Skin is ludicrous. But Parcellum wants to capitalize on your increased exposure. We know that you are your brand. So, let’s focus onyou. The more you and Jameson are photographed together, the more it feeds into the fairy tale narrative. People will buy Mela-Skin to supportyou, to be likeyou, to believe they can get their own prince—as crazy as that sounds. It all benefitsyou, which benefits the brand and gives Parcellum the organic reach they want.”

Andrea nodded slightly, a grin curving her full lips. “That’s not bad. And you wouldn’t have to ask Jameson to do anything he wouldn’t already be doing. He has to attend events. You would go with him.”

Bennie dusted her hands together. “Pictures will be taken, you both stay popular and relevant. Problem solved.”

Wow. It was no wonder Bennie was one of the most sought-after agents in the game. To come up with that shit, on the fly...

“Jay has only been in the spotlight so much because of the tribute,” Dani said. “He fully expects to go back to lecturing full-time once the semester starts.”
