“Yeah.” I laughed. “She was pretty bratty.” She was also exactly the kind of woman I imagined a young, hot billionaire would date.

“Here.” Krista slid my drink over to me then stood on the opposite side of the counter with her won drink, a vodka cranberry from the look of it. “He’s an idiot when it comes to women.”

Before I could answer, the front door slammed closed with a thud and Kyle appeared in the kitchen just a moment later.

“Krista, why couldn’t you just be nice for once?” He plopped down on the stool next to me and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Do you know the logistics headache you just caused me? I had to get a car and plane over here within minutes.”

“Oh, cry me a river, Kyle. AndIcaused you a headache? I thinkBelladid that all on her own.” She said her name like a cuss word. “Besides, getting her bony ass on a plane far, far away from me is for the best.”

“Make me a whiskey. Neat,” Kyle said. When Krista glared at him, he added, “Please.”

“We’re really sorry, Kyle,” I said, my voice sounding too soft. I’d been around Kyle again for twenty minutes and I didn’t know how to act. “We can still go stay at a hotel. It’s not a big deal.” I didn’t want to feel like an unwanted house guest when I already felt like a cockblock.

“I believe you’re sorry, Emma. But I know Krista isn’t,” Kyle answered.

“I don’t care what either of you say,” Krista said, sloppily pouring very expensive whiskey into a glass. “Someone is in the wrong here, but it isn’t me.” She pushed Kyle’s glass over to him but left it just out of his reach.

Kyle stretched forward, his leg pressing against mine when he did, and took the glass. He took a deep drink. “This is my condo, Krista. Not yours.”

“Get your phone and look at the texts, Kyle,” Krista said. “I asked and you answered. I even provided the dates so there would be no confusion.”

With a raised eyebrow, Kyle pulled out his phone and scrolled.

“Well?” Krista asked.

“Fine. You did ask and I did say yes,” Kyle admitted.

“I don’t wanna say I told you so but, I told you so.” Krista laughed, doing a little victory dance.

I took another sip of my drink. It might’ve been a while since we’d all been together, but not that much had changed and I knew better than to get in the middle of one of their fights.

“I’ve been busy. I can’t remember everything you text me about,” Kyle said,

“So, does that mean we can stay?” Krista asked.

“There’s no point in kicking you out now,” Kyle said.

“I knew you’d see things my way.” Krista beamed— she loved getting her way. “And you’ll stay to. It’ll be fun. Just like old times and the threeamigosare back together.”

And just like that, my peaceful, relaxing weekend was turned upside down by the hot billionaire sitting next to me.

Chapter 3

Kyle

InthepastweekI’d closed the biggest deal of my professional life, became a billionaire, and bought a private jet.

If you took all those things and combined them and then asked me which was more likely to happen, that combination of things or sitting in my ski condo kitchen with Emma Milton, I most definitely would’ve said the former over the later.

And that was saying something considering my deal for the business park didn’t look like it was going to work out until the very last second, surprising me more than anyone.

“Right, Kyle,” Krista said again, bringing my attention back to her. “You’re staying.”

“Bella’s on my fucking plane back to New York, so yeah, I’m staying.”

“No need to get testy with me, brother.” Krista could be a real pain in the ass sometimes. Most of the time, more accurately.

I took another swig on my drink, letting the amber liquid calm me. Saying I was experiencing blue blues would’ve been an understatement.
