Smiling at her, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her into him, kissing the top of her head. “That’s my good girl. I love you, Remi.”

“I love you, too, Daddy.”

TWENTY

REMI

As soon as Remi walked into The Hangout, she was busy with customers nonstop for the rest of her shift. Thankfully, most people who went there were regulars, so she could just look at them walking through the door and know what they wanted to drink.

Ink and Breaker sat at a table in a corner of the bar where they could see everything that was happening as well as who was coming and going. She did her best to ignore them and pretend they weren’t even there, but when her boss, Tracy, walked up next to her while she was pouring a drink at the bar, she knew she was going to have to answer some questions.

“What’s up with the bikers camping out at table nine?” she asked.

Remi got along with her boss, and Tracy always took the security of the team very seriously, so she really hoped the woman wouldn’t give her any shit.

“Kade put them on me because of something that’s going on.”

Tracy looked her up and down while chewing her big wad of bubblegum like she always did. “Kade, huh? You finally tie him down?”

Her eyes widened, making Tracy laugh.

“Don’t think I didn’t see the way you looked at him whenever he came in. You never looked at anyone else that way.”

Feeling her cheeks heat, she nodded. “Yeah. We’re together.”

Nodding, her boss started to wander off. “Got it. You’ll have a security detail with you from now on. Doesn’t surprise me. Kade seems overprotective.”

She giggled to herself. Overprotective was putting it lightly.

“Hey, Remi,” a familiar voice said.

Smiling at her regular, she automatically started pouring him a beer. “Hey, Bill. How’re things?”

The man sat down on one of the barstools and shrugged. “Hey, doll. Things are good. Same ol’ stuff.”

Sliding the beer across to him, she grinned. “Well, it’s good to see ya.”

“You’d be able to see me more if you said yes to letting me take you to dinner,” he replied.

Shooting him an exasperated look, she rolled her eyes. “One of these days, you’re going to find the perfect lady for you.”

He shrugged again and took a drink from the frothy top. Bill had been a long-time customer at The Hangout and every time he’d come in, he’d always asked her on a date. She always said no, of course. The man was at least thirty years older, and khaki-and-plaid-wearing guys were definitely not her type. He also hung out at the bar nearly every day, which was kind of a turnoff. But he was nice enough, and whenever he was there, he would keep her company while she made drinks.

The rest of her shift went smoothly. Kade had sent her a text every hour asking if everything was going okay. She’d reassured him every time that everything was fine, though she wasn’t surprised when he showed up with Steele and Storm about an hour before her shift was over.

He walked up and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his chest before he lowered his face to kiss her. “Hi, Princess.”

Smiling up at him, she sighed. She didn’t think she would ever get tired of looking at his handsome face. “Hi, Daddy. I missed you. Go sit with the guys and I’ll bring you all a round.”

Nodding, he released her and scanned the bar before leaving her to join the other men. When she went behind the bar, she started filling glasses with ice-cold beers.

“You and Kade, huh?” Bill asked.

The MC was well known at The Hangout. When they wanted to get away from the clubhouse for a drink, that was where they went. They’d also helped provide security over the years whenever there were live performances at the bar. To say the Shadowridge Guardians were loved in this town was an understatement. They were loved and respected by most. There were always a few people who judged them just by their looks, but she knew those were the kind of people who would judge anyone who was different than they were.

Smiling at the older man, she nodded. “Yeah.”

Bill nodded and slid a twenty across the bar to her. “Have a good night, doll.”
