Shrugging, she leaned forward and rested her head on his shoulder. His hand instantly came up to the back of her head, stroking her hair.

He sighed. “Let’s go eat dinner.”

She nodded and before she could hop off the counter, he lifted her and set her down on her feet and then placed his hand on her lower back and led her out of the bedroom toward the kitchen.

When he pulled out a chair for her at the small dining table, she smiled up at him. She hated that he didn’t see how sweet and wonderful he was. He was the man who would give the shirt off his back just to help someone in need. That was the kind of man she wanted. Roses meant nothing to her.

“I made your favorite.”

He placed a plate of spaghetti casserole in front of her, making her squeal. “I can’t believe you remembered my favorite food.”

His cheeks turned a light shade of pink and he shrugged like it meant nothing. “Eat up, Princess.”

This time it was her cheeks that turned pink. Why did she like him calling her that so much? It was strange because she’d liked him for so long and fantasized about him hundreds of times but she’d never thought he’d liked her like that. Now, knowing that he did and hearing him call her baby and princess, yeah, that was even better than she could have ever imagined.

He watched her eat her dinner and inwardly groaned every time she made one of those cute little noises that told him just how much she liked it. He was no chef, but he could throw together a good meal and spaghetti casserole just happened to be the one meal he excelled at. They would eat spaghetti casserole every night if it meant he got to hear those seductive noises.

Forcing his mind to focus on something other than wanting to strip her naked and lick every inch of her, Kade cleared his throat. “Has anyone been acting strange toward you? At the bar or at the MC or anything like that?”

She furrowed her eyebrows. “You know that no one at the MC would hurt me.”

He shrugged. He wasn’t so sure about that. For some reason, he just didn’t trust one particular member. It was just a feeling and he had no proof but the club treasurer had been acting strange recently. The guy was dating Remi’s best friend, Carlee, though, so that wouldn’t make sense. “What about at the bar? Any guys creeping you out?”

Shrugging her shoulders, she twirled her fork in the noodles. “There’s always guys that ask me out. It’s a bar. But nothing out of the ordinary.”

Kade let out a low growl. He didn’t fucking like that. Guys hitting on his girl? Hell, no.

Dude, she’s not your girl. Chill.

“Now who’s jealous?” she asked with raised brows.

“Eat your dinner,” he muttered.

She giggled and rolled her eyes but she took a bite and moaned appreciatively. He was going to have to take a cold shower after she went to bed, otherwise he was going to be in pain all night.

He could tell she was exhausted from her panic attack, and all he wanted to do when they were done eating was strip her naked, give her a bath, and then put her to bed, but they weren’t there yet. And they may never be. As badly as he wanted her, which was pretty damn bad, he didn’t want to do anything to rock the boat in the MC. Even if she was the first girl he’d ever imagined marrying.

Instead of doing what he wanted to do, he took their dishes to the sink. “Why don’t you go get some pajamas on?”

“I’ll help with the dishes. You cooked,” she said softly.

He turned around and smiled down at her as she walked toward him. “You’re exhausted, and you’ve been through a lot today. Go get comfy. Do you want to take a bath before you get your pajamas on?”

Her cheeks turned pink as she lowered her gaze from his. Was she thinking the same thing as he had been? She lifted up on her toes and fidgeted. Was her Little side peeking out? Finally she shook her head. “Can I take a quick shower?”

Walking over to her, he cupped her chin and studied her face. “Are you feeling okay? I don’t want you to get in the shower if you’re too tired.”

“I’m okay. I’m really tired, but I just feel icky after everything that happened today.”

“Okay, Princess. Leave the bathroom door cracked and call out for me if you start feeling like you’re panicking. Got it?”

“Okay,” she murmured before she disappeared into the hall bathroom.

A few minutes later, he heard the water running and he busied himself with the dishes so he wouldn’t think about the fact that Remi was in his guest bathroom, stripping her clothes off.
