Looking around, she took in his room. It was definitely a bachelor pad, but it was clean and comfortable. Flopping back on the bed, she sighed. He knew about her Little side. And her pink bedroom. How embarrassing.

She thought about his comment about noticing on her twenty-first birthday that she was an adult. What had he meant by that? Kade was a Daddy, though up until tonight, he hadn’t known she was Little.

Nibbling on her bottom lip, she resisted the urge to dig Binks out of her backpack. She could really use the comfort. It felt as though she had nine million things going through her mind all at once. She had a stalker. Kade found out she was Little. He saw her pink room. Her stalker had slashed Kade’s tires.

Suddenly her breathing was coming in sharp pants, and it felt as though her lungs were on fire. Shit. She was having a panic attack. Pulling herself up to sit, she leaned forward and put her head in her hands, trying to remind herself to breathe. Tears filled her eyes as she fought through it, but she couldn’t stop the sob that broke free.

Within seconds, Kade was kneeling in front of her, both his hands wrapped around her wrists. “Breathe, baby. Deep breath in and then out. Good girl. You’re safe. I’m right here. In, out. Good girl.”

She followed his commands even though it felt like her chest was on fire with each breath she took.

“Breathe again, baby. Good girl.”

His deep voice soothed her, and without thinking, she reached out and ran her fingers over his jaw, feeling the roughness of his short beard. Her breathing became more even, but she could feel a fine layer of sweat on her skin, and she could barely keep her eyes open. Panic attacks always exhausted her.

Kade stood and lifted her from the bed, and while she should have probably told him to put her down, she didn’t because it felt good to be held against him. He carried her into the bathroom and set her on the counter, keeping one hand on her thigh while he grabbed a washcloth from a drawer and then ran it under water.

He brought the cloth up to her forehead and she sighed. It was cool and soothing, and when she reached up to take it from him, he grabbed hold of her wrist and brought her hand back to her lap.

“Let me take care of you.”

She stared at him as he concentrated on what he was doing. “Thank you, Kade.”

Lowering his hand, he studied her with those deep green eyes that made her melt. “How often do you have panic attacks?”

“Not very often. Lately I’ve been having them more. Ever since I started getting the letters.”

He moved in front of her, placing his hands on either side of the counter, trapping her in. Pinning her with a stern look, he asked, “Why didn’t you call me sooner?”

“I thought about it but I didn’t want my dad to find out. And I didn’t think you liked me.”

Moving his face down so it was only inches from hers, he held her gaze. “Well, get that out of your head because I do like you.”

“But you’ve always kept your distance from me and you barely speak to me.”

Taking a step back, he shook his head. “That’s because you always seemed to be hissing at me whenever I was around.”

“I was not hissing!”

Raising an eyebrow, he smirked. “You’re hissing right now, Princess.”

Crossing her arms over her chest, she stuck her lip out in a pout. “Am not.”

He took a step forward again and placed his hands back on the counter. “Well, for the record, I do like you, Remi. I fucking like you a lot. But your dad is my friend and I don’t want to make a move on his daughter and ruin our friendship. I respect him too much.”

She didn’t know why he would think her dad wouldn’t approve of him. Her dad loved Kade. “It wouldn’t hurt your friendship.”

Keeping his gaze on hers, he raised an eyebrow. “You didn’t say you didn’t want me to make a move on you.”

Reaching up, she grabbed hold of the edges of his cut. “That’s because maybe I want you to.”

His pupils dilated, and she could tell that he was rolling that little piece of information around in his mind.

“You know my life is crazy, Remi. You deserve better than that. You deserve better than me. You deserve roses and sunshine.”

Her lips pulled back into a smile. She gestured to her all black outfit. “Do I look like I’m a roses and sunshine kind of girl?”

He grinned. “The secret part of you seems like you’re a roses and sunshine kind of girl.”
