Page 327 of Dangerous as Sin

My social life mainly revolved around my job and the few times a month Kat managed to drag me out. And my job usually brought in a lot of men who were older than my twenty-six years.

“Tell me about yourself.”

Oh jeez. His voice had deepened and it was all sexy and raspy. Arousal zipped along my skin. Did all bikers have this dangerous sexy aura, or was it just him? We’d gone from making polite small talk to the inside of the car threatening to burst into flames.

“Um… There’s nothing really special to tell,” I managed to respond.

“You live in San Francisco?”

I nodded in answer. I was still watching him from the corner of my eye as I drove, so I didn’t miss the way his eyes dipped down to my breasts. I gripped the steering wheel tighter, trying not to blush from head to toe.

“What do you do?”

“I’m a dive guide.”

There was a blank look on his face. I smiled because I got that a lot from people. Especially when they didn’t live near the ocean.

“I work for a dive shop and I do guided scuba diving tours,” I explained.

He frowned. “You scuba dive?” I nodded. “Willingly?”

That made me choke on a laugh. “Not a fan of the ocean?”

He shook his head. “Hate water most of the time. I grew up in Texas. I’m a desert rat.”

“What brought you here from Texas?”

The open, friendly look on his face was immediately replaced by a blank mask.

Neat trick.

“Business.”

I didn’t bother to ask what sort of business because it was obvious he wasn’t going to talk about it. I had no right to delve into his life past what he was willing to share.

Yet you let him feel up your thigh and ask personal questions?

“How long are you staying?” I asked, ignoring my inner voice even though she had a point

“Not sure yet,” he said, mood lightening when he realized I wasn’t going to pry. What he did was none of my business.

Between the heater and the sizzling warmth running along my skin thanks to his heated gaze, I was slowly beginning to dry. At least my outer layers were. My panties were another matter, though with him in here with me they were in danger of staying wet.

I pulled the car over to the side of the road. It was just late enough in the season that there weren’t many tourists out here so the look-outs over the ocean were open.

Trip glanced over at me, a frown marring his brow. “What are you doing?”

“I’m tired of being in wet clothes.” I let my gaze rake over him—mostly because I just wanted the chance to really look at him—and my lips quirked up in a grin. “I don’t have anything that will fit you, but it doesn’t mean I need to be uncomfortable. I’ll be right back.”

Getting out, I went around to the trunk of my car and opened my duffel bag that had my clothing inside. I pulled out a pair of jean shorts and my last clean shirt. I’d meant for it to be a sleep shirt, but it would have to do.

I glanced around to make sure no cars were coming and shimmied out of my leggings and underwear. All the panties I’d brought with me were dirty so I just yanked the shorts on and went commando. I’d spent the weekend hiking and swimming, so my single bra was a bit ripe—which is why I hadn’t worn it this morning—so I pulled off my wet shirt and put the new one on. I’d have to be careful. The shirt left my belly exposed and if I lifted my arms too high I’d end up flashing more than a little under boob at my passenger. Kat had made me buy the shirt. I actually really liked it, but didn’t usually wear it in public since it left little to the imagination.

“Damn.”

I yelped as I shut the trunk and found him standing there. My mouth dropped open as I tried to find words. They finally came out, horror evident in them. “Did you just watch me dress?” I’d been naked, essentially, and not at all ready for this man to see me that way. At least not if we weren’t in the moment with the heat of passion making my thoughts fuzzy. I didn’t exactly have the confidence to be naked without the lights off, at least at first. But his hungry smile had me just a little bit proud of my body.

“No,” he said with a shake of his head. The sunlight glinted off his dark blond hair. It was longer on top and shorter on the sides, and I longed to run my fingers through it. “I just got out.” He crossed his finger over his heart, but gave me a smile so wicked I had to wonder if he was lying to me.
